Your role in the team
To take care of the accounting of Belgian subsidiaries of the EXMAR Group in order to make sure the Group and its subsidiaries comply with the applicable accounting standards and requirements.
The General Ledger Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager.
Your responsibilities and tasks include
- Prepare figures for monthly/quarterly closing by performing closing procedures and reviewing trial balances (incl. analytical review and account reconciliations). Also assist the audit team during reviews;
- Take care of ledger accounts including follow-up of administration (fixed assets, lube oil, provisions and accruals), registration of cashbooks and ensuring correct registration in the accounting software;
- Take care of clients & suppliers administration incl. preparation/ registration/ filing/ follow-up of outgoing/incoming invoices, follow-up of unpaid receivables and balances;
- Prepare weekly payment proposals and register bank statements;
- Take care of tax declaration incl. monthly VAT, yearly customer listing and assisting with corporate income tax administration. Also assist in any other inquiry or inspection by authorities;
- Perform monthly/quarterly intercompany reconciliations;
- Upload figures in the consolidation software;
- Prepare quarterly information in accordance with the group instructions;
- Prepare yearly statutory accounts and perform timely filing of annual accounts at NBB.
Your profile
- Bachelor Accountancy;
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar position;
- You are able to respect internal/external reporting deadlines;
- You are able to independently perform the periodic closing figures;
- You are able to independently follow-up on open items;
- Good knowledge of Belgian General Accepted Accounting Principles and VAT;
- Extensive knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel in particular);
- Fluent in written and spoken English and Dutch.
