Wassu Gambia Kafo (WGK) is hiring a Gambian national Gender specialist to carry out research, training and knowledge transfer actitivities, based on Mainstreaming and Gender Transformative Approach.

Job Summary:

Research related activities

· Research design according to the international agenda on issues of gender equality, women’s rights, masculinities, sexuality, in both qualitative and quantitative analysis.

· Design and implementation of different research techniques with key actors on gender and sexuality.

· Analysis and triangulation of the results of the different data collection techniques.

· Drafting of intervention proposals as a result of the investigations.

· Write reports on the activities developed in the framework of WGK’s projects.

Knowledge transfer related activities

· Build the capacity of field workers in gender issues, in line with the organizational strategy and policies.

· Coordinate and supervise the development of activities related to gender and sexuality in The Gambia carried out by WGK.

· Conduct training on sensitive topics such as gender relations, sexuality, harmful traditional practices and other GBV.

· Identify new needs in terms of gender relations, sexuality, women’s rights and harmful traditional practices.

Person Specifications

· Must be a Gambian national

. Master’s Degree or PhD in Social Sciences and/or Gender Studies.

· At least 3 years experience in the implementation of projects and research on gender issues, sexual and reproductive health and rights.

· Strong skills and experience in using mix methods (qualitative and quantitative) and participatory methodologies.

· Excellent organizational, coordination, mobilization and management skills.

· Excellent data analysis, reporting and article writing.

· Respectful and ability to handle culturally sensitive issues in a tactful way.

· Experience and integration skills in an international and multicultural work group

· Excellent English as a working language and knowledge of local languages.

· Office package (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and data analysis programs.
