Gender Equity and Safety Program Coordinator

Job Overview: Under the supervision of the Health Program Manager, the Gender Equity and Safety Program Coordinator will be responsible for implementing culturally appropriate interventions to improve safety and equity outcomes for both clients and staff. This includes oversight of the Bridge to Safety Program, Maternal and Child Health Program, and gender-based violence prevention programming.

Major Responsibilities:

· Supervise the Bridge to Safety Program, IRC’s office-wide gender-based violence prevention, screening, and response program

· Respond to crisis situations involving domestic and sexual violence and assist survivors in safety planning and accessing supportive services as needed

· Provide trainings for staff on how to respond to disclosures of violence

· Work with partner agencies to develop, implement, track, and analyze gender-based violence prevention programming for men and boys

· Maintain and cultivate partnerships with domestic violence and sexual abuse organizations

· Work across US network in collaboration with the Women’s Empowerment Technical Advisor to ensure best practices are being used in safety programming.

· Search and apply for grant funding to further violence prevention and response programming

· Collaborate with the development team in the collection and analysis of program data, and participate in program development, support, and training to ensure gender equitable services for both clients and staff

· Oversee, Supervise and Support the Maternal and Child Health Program in coordinating health services for pre- and post-partum women and their children

· Supervise 2-3 staff members and interns to support health team programming

· Provide transportation and direct services to IRC Clients

· Coordinate screening, education, and program development for sexual and reproductive health

· Coordinate health care for newly arrived refugees as needed

· Track outcomes, analyze data, and provide recommendations for program improvement

· Comply with all policies and protocols of the agency

· Support overall functioning of health programs, projects, and initiatives, including providing regular assistance transporting clients to and from health appointments

· Participate in program meetings and staff development activities

· Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

· Demonstrated experience working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, and familiarity with available DV services in the Salt Lake Valley, including emergency shelters, victim advocates, and legal services

· Demonstrated understanding of trauma and ability to incorporate trauma-informed care principles into all interactions with clients and staff

· Prior staff supervision experience preferred

· Demonstrated ability to work individually as well as with a team

· Valid driver’s license, current insurance, and access to reliable transportation

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, International Relations, Social Work, or a related field OR equivalent professional experience

Working Environment:

· A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.

· Occasional domestic (non-local) travel required; up to 10%.

· May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
