NAJAHANA PROGAM CONORTIUM

Najahana has assembled a Consortium of five organizations, Plan (PlanBørnefonden, Plan Jordan), the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), the Royal Health Awareness Society (RHAS), Confederation of Danish Industries (DI) and Includovate with the collective aim to ensure that young Syrian refugees and other conflict-affected youth, especially adolescent girls and young women, are empowered to become economic, social, viable actors in an inclusive, healthy protective and gender responsive environment. The Najahana Program is designed and implemented by a Consortium of strong local and international partners who bring an exceptional combination of experience, capacity, and presences built on many years working with refugees and conflict-affected youth in ensuring access to Education, Youth Economic Empowerment, Protection, and gender mainstreaming in Jordan and in various countries around the world, including the targeted governorates and the refugee camps.

ROLE PURPOSE

To strengthen effective coordination between all Najahana’s partners and support achieving Najahana as a gender transformative program, Plan International Jordan is recruiting a Gender Coordinator who will work closely with Najahana’s and other relevant partners to mainstream gender across the three pillars of the program.

Reporting to Najahana’s senior program manager, the gender coordinator will work in close collaboration with Plan International Gender specialist and youth engagement coordinator to strengthen activities alignment to plan International gender transformative approach and build Najahana’s and other relevant partners’ staff capacities in terms of gender equality, inclusion and protection mainstreaming topics.

The role involves working closely with the following external and internal stakeholders:

RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Management and Technical Support

  • Ensure the implementation of a holistic and integrated gender transformative approach across all Najahana objectives.
  • Support capacity building to Najahana partners, CBOs, and other key stakeholders in terms of gender equality, GBV, inclusion, SRHR and protection topics.
  • Support in the conduction of gender equality and inclusion related analysis, needs assessment and gender focused discussions.
  • Support developing and implementing specific gender action points and recommendations across the Najahana objectives.
  • Providetechnical support to Najahana consortium and partners as they operationalize their gender action points and recommendations.
  • Support developing and disseminating gender focused program management tools including MEAL tools and culturally-sensitive and age-appropriate training materials.
  • Support reviewing the project documents to be gender and context sensitive specially in Arabic.
  • Support in adapting proven methodologies within the program objectives such as; Plan’s Champions of Change for adolescent girls and boys focused on building gender equality.
  • Actively contribute to the program planning and adaptation of the program approaches in line with youth, adolescent girls and young women priorities and needs.
  • Support in identifying areas that can be strengthened to increase the potential of Najahana to contribute to gender transformative and inclusive work.
  • Analyse and ensure the interventions across different objectives are gender-sensitive, inclusive, and non-discriminatory.
  • Support the coordination, preparation, and facilitation of all events related to the program (meetings, workshops, training, consultations, national stakeholders’ meetings).
  • Collaborate with the advocacy manager on all communication, visibility and advocacy requirements.
  • Representing the program to different stakeholders in the different areas of implementation.
  • Ensure implementation of code of conduct, and internal Child Protection policy.
  • Abide by the security policies and procedures and report any incidents or breaches to the line manager and/or security manager.
  • And any other duties seemed relevant to the position and assigned by your manager.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Gender Science, Governance, Development Studies or related field.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience supporting activities relevant to capacity building.
  • Demonstrated experience in content development and facilitation skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of gender issues in humanitarian and/or development settings, particularly GBV, including relevant international human rights, principles and established international standards.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision from line manager and under pressure with competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent reporting and writing skills; in both English and Arabic.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word and ability to use information technology as a tool and resource.
  • Commitment to Plan’s Global Gender Equality and Inclusion policy which states that the core objectives of Plan International work are to achieve gender equality, promoting gender justice, realizing girls’ rights, and fostering an inclusive society.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working in a consortium with multiple staff members, partners, and networks.
  • Sound relationship with national entities including NGOs, relevant ministries and national CBOs in different governorates.
  • Gender Analysis experience is highly valued.
