WORK CONTEXT

Cesvi has been working in Pakistan since 2005 while supporting the earthquake victims, floods-affected populations, conflict-affected IDPs, returnees, and host communities.

Cesvi has invested in development projects in remote regions in the country. In the emergency context, Cesvi developed expertise specifically in Health, WASH, Shelter & NFIs, Food Security & livelihood, and Disaster Preparedness and Risk Reduction (DRR) with protection, gender, and inclusion (PGI) as cross-cutting sectors.

CESVI has been working with different donors, such as ECHO, the EU, OFDA/USAID (now USAID-BHA), UNFAO, UNWFP, UNOCHA, UKAid/FCDO, Italian Cooperation, SDC, PIDSA, PHPF, and more. Since 2017, Cesvi Pakistan has been actively operating in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

In Sindh, Cesvi has executed multiple projects in districts like Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, and Tharparkar over the past decade, including flood relief and COVID-19 response efforts funded by ECHO in the last two years.

Currently, Cesvi Pakistan is implementing three projects funded by ECHO in Sindh, Balochistan, and Punjab.

Reports to: Head of Program

RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the guidance and supervision of the Head of the Program, the Gender and Protection Coordinator will be responsible for the following deliverables.

  • Provide technical inputs in proposing gender & inclusion-friendly rehabilitation of emergency activities adhered to Sphere Standards
  • Gender analysis of the project area before and after the project
  • Prepare and provide technical documents like gender analysis framework, gender markers, and tools for the project’s proposed activities
  • Provide technical inputs in designing tools and during the conduction of baseline and Pre-KAP surveys of the project
  • Technical guidance to the project staff in developing data
  • Ensure inclusion of senior citizens, transgender, and PWDs for equal access and opportunities.
  • Build up the capacities of the project team in gender sensitization, mobilization skills & HHE
  • Technical support to MEAL and the project team in designing tools for project activities
  • Regularly conduct field visits along with the mobilization team during the beneficiaries and Scheme selection process as per the project’s work plan
  • Provided technical support in developing monthly project reports
  • Close coordination with team members to develop strategies to ensure the functioning of the Complaint response mechanism at the field level for project beneficiaries and the office level for the project staff
  • Technical review in Cesvi Operational manual and safeguard Policies and make amendments to make these gender and inclusion-friendly
  • Conducting Gender Audit and Gender Action Plan to make Cesvi gender and inclusion-friendly
  • Develop strategic guidelines and MEAL framework for all projects
  • Technical review of project proposals and reports through a gender lens
  • Stakeholders mapping and development of referral mechanisms for the most vulnerable groups
  • Review and upgrade HO & field office in alignment with safeguard policies and gender & harassment policies
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement database security measures to safeguard information in client computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification, or disclosure
  • Review procedures in database management system manuals for making necessary database changes according to protection management needs
  • Any other job-related added task assigned by the supervisor

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree in social science, development studies, or any other relevant position of study. An in-depth understanding of gender, age, and other sociocultural factors is required
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional in a similar position in NGOs/INGOs/UN Agencies. Working within the context of gender-related technical programming. This includes gender equality, prevention of gender-based violence, women’s empowerment, and women’s education
  • Superior organizational skills and ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, fluid environment
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills to build links with staff, partners, government officials, donors, and other relevant stakeholders
  • Creative and flexible with problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated professionalism and diplomacy
  • Ability to confidently represent oneself to high-level officials
  • Confident and proficient in using MS Office, proficiency in Sindhi and English language (written and spoken) is mandatory

Contract Duration

18 months (extendable)

Salary Range

200,000 – 250,000 PKRs/month
