IRC is one of the first humanitarian organizations to bring together specific disciplines involved in violence prevention and response in conflict affected settings to ensure collaborative and still specialized support to survivors and those at risk of violence. Over the past 25 years, IRC’s Violence Prevention and Response Unit (VPRU) has pioneered and implemented programs that prevent and respond to violence against women and girls across 35 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. The Women’s Protection and Empowerment team within the VPRU is a leader in GBV innovation, programming, and research. This position is housed within the Violence Prevention and Response Unit (VPRU) and will collaborate with IRCs Airbel Impact Lab (research and innovation), technical advisors and country teams implementing services for Women’s Protection and Empowerment (WPE) and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH).

Scope of Work:
The IRC is a leading pioneer of WPE and SRH programming, as well as violence prevention and response research. The goal of this project is to rigorously evaluate women’s preferences as well as service provider experiences in integrated GBV-SRH service delivery and approaches through qualitative human-centered design research in two humanitarian contexts, identify best practices and promising approaches in the delivery of integrated GBV-SRH response programming. Based on the outcomes of this work the GBV-SRH Integration Design and Learning Specialist will write a guidance note for practitioners which help inform a toolkit to be developed after this initial research (pending funding).

This role will coordinate user-centered design activities with Airbel and country teams to delve into WPE-SRH integration and women’s preferences in how WPE-SRH services integrate, collaborate, and coordinate together. In addition to coordination, this role will be responsible for co-analyzing data; conducting a desk review; ensuring user-centered activities with clients follow the GBV guiding principles, WHO research standards on GBV, and GBV Minimum Standards on research; and formulating an initial guidance note for WPE-SRH practitioners based on research findings and in line with GBV Minimum Standards and MISP.

Major Responsibilities:
Work closely with Airbel Impact Lab, VPRU/Health technical units, and country programs implementation sites to coordinate research studies
Ensure user centred design activities adheres to IRC research standards, GBV Minimum Standards and WHO Guidelines
Ensures project staff training on GBV guiding principles, as needed
Support data analysis efforts, including taking initiative to start new analyses
Leads on drafting of guidance note based on research
Lead in donor reporting and budget management
Assist in business development opportunities to advance the project activities, when applicable;
Present project findings, including from user-centred design activities and evidence reviews, internally and externally at various fora
Ensure development of and uptake of a dissemination strategy for practitioners
