SCOPE OF WORK (SOW)

International Medical Corps, which has a history of providing healthcare services and training in Ukraine that dates back to 1999, is expanding its activities in the country and the surrounding region in response to the war there.

The situation throughout Ukraine is deteriorating rapidly as the conflict intensifies, prompting a sharp increase in humanitarian needs as access to essential services and supplies are disrupted and more and more people flee their homes. In addition, millions of Ukrainians have fled to neighboring countries, including Moldova, Poland and Romania, increasing pressure on host governments as they work to provide shelter and essential services to the new arrivals.

Our response activities will include operation of mobile medical teams and providing emergency and primary health services, mental health and psychosocial support, gender-based violence services, child protection, nutrition, and water, sanitation and hygiene. If requested, we also are prepared to deploy our Emergency Medical Team and mobile health facility to provide emergency and primary healthcare wherever it is needed.

International Medical Corps is coordinating with Polish organizations to strengthen response services, including GBV prevention and response services.

JOB SUMMARY:

The GBV Specialist focused on capacity development is responsible for leading trainings and supporting partner organizations to strengthen capacity for GBV prevention and response.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Planning

  • Work closely with GBV Coordinator, GBV Technical Advisor to achieve program goals
  • Coordinate with partner agencies to organize training and support capacity building needs
  • Support partners with recruitment of new staff to strengthen organizational capacity for GBV response services
  • Ensure adherence to IMC’s GBV Minimum Standards, as well as relevant inter-agency guidelines and standards
  • Coordinate with Logistics and other departments to plan trainings

Capacity Building

  • Lead direct trainings and ToTs in basic GBV response and GBV integration for partners, volunteers, and focal points
  • Lead trainings in GBV case management for dedicated GBV responders
  • Lead trainings in GBV core concepts, GBV risk mitigation, and PSEA
  • Lead other technical trainings, as needed
  • Lead both remote and in-person trainings
  • Coordinate with MHPSS and Child Protection specialists for integrated capacity building initiatives

Project Management

  • Conduct regular monitoring and evaluation of trainings and track participation
  • Plan and procure supplies required for trainings, in line with budget and project timelines
  • Contribute to regular program reports, on time and with accurate data
  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations

Security and Conduct

  • Ensure compliance with security protocols and policies
  • Foster a safe and supportive working environment for all GBV staff, volunteers, and partners
  • Exemplify core principles of GBV programming, including respect, non-discrimination, responsible use of power, nonviolence, and promotion of gender equality
  • Contribute to the positive image and overall credibility of the program and organization, notably through adherence to the Code of Conduct and Ethics, including compliance with anti-harassment, safeguarding and PSEA policies

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or relevant level of experience required
  • Minimum three years related experience, including GBViE programming and training
  • Demonstrated application of GBV core competencies and commitment to core principles of GBV programming
  • Relevant regional experience strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of standard GBViE technical resources and approaches
  • Knowledge of standards and guidance related to protection from SEA
  • Familiarity with GBV case management services
  • Facilitation experience required
  • Experience working with local partners and community mobilization preferred
  • Profound cross-cultural awareness
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, remain flexible, and apply experience and guidance to evolving challenges
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • English as well as at least one of the following languages is required, with preference for multiple languages: Ukrainian, Polish, Belarusian, Russian
