PSI/Somalia has worked to measurably improve the health of Somali women and children since 2007, addressing the most serious health challenges that affect resource poor and vulnerable Somali communities.
PSI seeks an experienced Gender Based Violence (GBV) and Female Genital Mutilation / Cutting (FGM/C) Specialist to ensure all GBV and FGM/C services are delivered in a technically accurate and safe manner related to the Damal Caafimaad Component 1: Delivery of Somalia’s Essential Package of Health Services in Nugaal, Puntland.
Responsibilities
Your contributions
- Based on Global and Somalia-specific guidelines, ensure all GBV and FGM/C services are delivered in a technically accurate and safe manner related to the Damal Caafimaad Component 1: Delivery of Somalia’s Essential Package of Health Services in Nugaal, Puntland
- Take steps to mitigate risks in delivering GBV and FGM/C services
- Train health service providers in GBV and FGM/C service provision
- Conduct ongoing supervision of GBV and FGM/C services
- Develop materials to ensure delivery of safe and effective GBV and FGM/C services
- Work with facilities to organize and execute GBV and FBM/C community consultation, stakeholder trainings, and awareness campaigns
- Closely collaborate with Regional and State level Government to support a multi-sectoral response to GBV and FGM/C

What are we looking for?
- Medical Doctor, Qualified Nursing, or Master of Public Health degree strongly preferred
- Holds of a Bac + 5 Diploma or equivalent, in public health, social sciences, project management, or similar discipline
- At least eight years of overall professional experience
- At least five years of experience in supervising GBV and FGM/C prevention and response activities in a healthcare setting is required
- At least five years of experience in GBV and FGM/C awareness raising is strongly preferred
- Excellent knowledge of the guiding and ethical principles that govern work with survivors of GBV and FGM/C and good practices in the implementation of activities to prevent and address GBV and FGM/C
- A strong understanding of principles of medical care for GBV and FGM/C
- Good experience in data collection and analysis on GBV and FGM/C relevant legislation/legal frameworks in Somalia in the area of GBV is preferred
- Excellent command of Somali and strong ability to write reports
- Qualified Somali national/ Somali Diaspora or individual already authorized to work in Somalia required
