Full Professorship (W 3) for Internet Security

University of Potsdam, Digital Engineering Faculty

The Digital Engineering Faculty is expanding its area of Internet research and cyber security. We are looking for a candidate with a strong, internationally recognized research profile and a clear commitment to teaching.

The professorship will study security, trust engineering, and resilience. The candidate has an excellent track record in basic and applied research in Internet security, including but not limited to one or more of the following aspects: system security, software security, security analytics, formal verification, machine learning and security, cloud security, embedded security, trusted computing, usable security and privacy.

The professorship focuses on system and method-oriented research that is closely related to complex IT systems and applications in science, industry, and society. Applicants have shown exceptional competence in research and development. Experience in working with external partners and pursuing and securing research projects with third parties is an advantage. Furthermore, applicants must demonstrate teaching experience and are expected to contribute to the faculty’s bachelor’s and master’s programs and the faculty’s research schools.

The joint professorship is being filled under the Jülich Model, with a teaching obligation according to Section 40 (9) of the Brandenburg Higher Education Act (Brandenburgisches Hochschulgesetz, BbgHG) at the University of Potsdam.

The hiring process is subject to the requirements set forth in Section 41 subsection 1 no. 1 – 3, 4a and 4c of the Brandenburg Higher Education Act (BbgHG). The appointment procedure is conducted in accordance with Section 40 BbgHG.
