Freight Customs & Insurance Specialist

As Freight Customs & Insurance Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth flow of goods across international borders. As part of the team your goal will be to make sure that cost-efficient principles are applied on the entire process of goods delivery. In this role you will also support regarding optimizing costs and operational efficiencies while delivering excellent customer service.

Description/Tasks

• Ensure compliant and solid processes in the field of customs and trade
• Develop and implement global guidelines and procedures for compliance with customs regulations
• Point of contact on customs matters, including classification, valuation, and determination of origin
• Coordinate with freight forwarder, brokers & other third parties to collect and deliver goods
• Enter quotation request in a TMS
• Follow up with Customs & Freight invoices, release invoices in our ERP, SAP
• Monitor changes in customs regulations worldwide and advising internal teams on necessary updates
• Collaborate with other departments, such as compliance, taxes, and legal, to ensure customs compliance across all areas of the company
• Manage and supervise the work of customs brokers and external service providers
• monitor exports for foreign trade law aspects and compliance with relevant legal regulations (including Foreign Trade Act, Dual-Use Regulation, and embargoes)

Qualification/Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or specialized vocational training of at least 3 years with relevant further education
• Several years of work experience and corresponding knowledge in the field of freight, customs /export control environment are required
• Good understanding of Supply Chain and Logistics processes
• Fluent in English (written and spoken), German highly beneficial
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Package
• Good Knowledge in customs software
• Team player with strong communication skills
• customer-centric mindset
• Good understanding of the aerospace industry and the regulatory framework is an advantage
