ABOUT SI…

SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association which, for nearly 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their basic needs for food, water and shelter. Particularly committed to the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI’s interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods. Present in some twenty countries, the SI teams – 2000 people in total, made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at HQ, and a few volunteers – intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultural norms.

ABOUT THE JOB…

A good humanitarian response is based on an accurate and holistic situational analysis that specifies the characteristics and underlying cause of a shock, highlights unmet needs, existing community support mechanisms, and the differentiated impact of the crisis on populations and their vulnerabilities.

To enhance our ability to understand the current and future needs of people in vulnerable situations, to establish gaps in existing responses, and to identify factors that lead to the resurgence of crisis, SI developed in 2021 an analytical tool: the SI Situation Analysis Framework (SISAF). This methodology was piloted in 2 countries the same year.

Within the Direction of Operations, and under the supervision of the Head of Program Unit, the Situation Analysis Specialist leads the finalization and deployment of the SISAF within SI’s missions, based on the lessons learned from the pilots, internal and external prerequisites.
