Purpose:

The Forensic Program Assistant based in Athens, provides administrative, logistics and technical support to the implementation of the forensic programs and activities in line with the ICRC’s Forensic Strategy, with a view to reaching the objectives set within the delegation’s Planning for Results. S/he is part of the forensic team within the delegation.

Main operational responsibilities:

  • Provides technical and administrative support for forensic programs and activities at the delegation.
  • Contributes in the planning, organization and implementation of formal and informal trainings, workshops, conferences and seminars. Organizes the logistics and prepares materials for training courses, workshops, etc.
  • Participates in forensic-related meetings, briefings and training sessions for staff and relevant external stakeholders.
  • Carries out logistical tasks regarding forensic items and their distribution to beneficiaries in the field.
  • Liaises with logistic and financial department concerning the follow up of the distribution of items (distribution tracking).
  • Facilitates field trips (as relevant) and helps communicate with the local authorities/interlocutors/beneficiaries.
  • Ensures proper management of information collected and produces the subsequent reports.
  • Provides oral and written reports on forensic issues; contribute on the translation of relevant forensic documents.
  • Assists in representing the ICRC towards the authorities and other stakeholders.
  • Disseminates ICRC information/messages on forensic science and humanitarian action.
  • Briefs ICRC staff as required.
  • Liaises and builds networks with local stakeholders to facilitate communication on and coordination of activities, thereby ensuring more efficient implementation of forensic programs. May represent the ICRC vis-à-vis beneficiaries, local authorities, humanitarian players, etc.
  • Assists the Missing /Restoring Family Links (RFL) team in organizing/managing events around the issue of missing persons.
  • Assists, upon request, with other tasks not specifically mentioned in this Job Opening.

Ideal profile

Minimum required knowledge & experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in medical, biological or forensic sciences.
  • Fluent command of Greek and English, knowledge of other languages an asset.
  • Experience in forensic case work.
  • Experience in organization of training seminars, workshops, short courses including administrative and logistics management.
  • Very good computer skills.
  • Very high organizational and case management skills.
  • An excellent attention to detail.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Proven skills and experience in communicating/raising awareness on forensic issues and ability to adapt messages to different audiences

Desirable

  • 2 years’ proven experience in forensic practice
