The Opportunity

Following the earthquake that impacted southern Turkey and Syria on February 6th 2023, Save the Children is scaling up it’s programs to meet the needs of children and their families affected by the earthquake.

This role support set up or scale up of emergency response fleet functions. This person will be responsible for support to staffing structures, and supervision of fleet staff, and will support the Warehousing and Distribution Manager and other members of the team on the best use of Save the Children’s fleet resources, supporting planning, including development of the supply chain response plan.

The role could include remote supervision, supervision of multiple field bases in large scale emergency responses. The post-holder will be responsible for supporting lessons learned exercises, identification of best practise adherence and enforcement of fleet policies and procedures, capacity building and adherence to compliance (Save the Children and Donor).

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

Essential:

  • Good prior NGO or private company experience in Fleet systems.
  • Experience in Fleet operations
  • Experience of implementing Fleet plans, and setting up Fleet operations to support multi sectoral programmes, and ensuring appropriate resourcing for the supply chain
  • Proven track-record in Fleet functions and supervising staff, and providing training and capacity building
  • Ability to synthesise and analyse complex information, and make clear, informed decisions/recommendations
  • Experience of supporting others with Fleet aspects of a programme, including demand and storage planning, support the development of Fleet staffing structures.
  • Ability to build relationships quickly with a wide range of people, both internally and externally
  • Knowledge of planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organise a workload comprised of diverse tasks and responsibilities
  • Strong communication (written and spoken), and interpersonal skills in English and Turkish, with experience in working with multicultural teams

Desirable

  • Formal management training
  • Processes and supervision, within large scale country programmes and in emergency response/humanitarian environments

Position holder will be based in Hatay, therefore legal right to work in Türkiye is necessary at the time of application.
