FIRE DATA ASSISTANT – ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT II (TEMPORARY, PART-TIME)

The Fire Data Assistant to the State Fire Marshal’s Office will help assist the office as time allows and needs arise with the following duties:
1. Import fire incidents into the National Fire Incident Reporting System
2. Enter “no-activity” reports on behalf of fire departments
3. Run fire data and organize into monthly and annual reports
4. Answer/respond to fire department questions about reporting of fires
5. Work with local fire departments to resolve fire reporting issues (import failures, missing incidents, etc.)
6. Identification and outreach to non-reporting fire departments to increase fire reporting participation in North Dakota
7. Assistance with other data-based programs such as Certificate of Existence and Property Insurance Loss Reporting
8. Reception and direction of phone and email inquiries on other subjects
9. General assistance with other office duties as directed or needed
10. Other duties as directed by the supervisor
Are you qualified? We are looking for people with the following:
1. Fire service experience with and demonstrated knowledge of entry and completion of fire incident reports as part of assigned duties required
2. Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, etc.) preferred
3. Demonstrated experience of various software applications, and ability to enter and retrieve data preferred
4. Knowledge of National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) 5.0 fire incident coding preferred
