Job Description:

This position is a Financial Strategy Analyst-Senior in the Corporate Financial Strategy department. The analyst provides financial modeling and analytical support related to strategic growth initiatives, capital budgeting, construction projects, bond financing, derivatives, corporate financial planning, and ad-hoc analysis processes. Acting as a resource to the system, this role provides decision support to management, performs comprehensive analysis on complex projects or programs, and provides subject matter expertise to ensure sound financial operations.

Scope

This position is responsible for providing analytical support at a system-wide level, working as part of a team and interacting with stakeholders across the system. This position independently leads and performs analysis on complex projects or programs. This position works with data sources serving the needs of internal and external customers in multiple business areas. Provides expertise in financial analytics in the following areas: strategic growth initiatives, capital budgeting, construction projects, bond financing, derivatives, corporate financial planning, and ad-hoc analysis. Regularly prepares presentations for external audiences, senior management, and the Board. May train or mentor other analysts.

Job Essentials

Performs specifically defined projects or tasks related to several routine and non-routine / complex functions (e.g. corporate financial planning, financial due diligence, financial modeling, strategic planning, capital planning, debt and derivative portfolio management). Accountable for independent, timely, and accurate completion of responsibilities.

Coordinates the preparation and review of financial models, forecasts, and ad hoc analysis under limited supervisory direction. Completes complex and in-depth analysis to identify financial feasibility, trends, and risks.

Understands and incorporates external financial factors, economic considerations, industry trends, regulatory requirements, and other external implications into financial models.

Works closely with internal stakeholders to assess the business viability and financial strategies relating to major capital investments.

Acts as a system expert and resource for others on financial modeling, processes, and systems. May provide project management and consultation for stakeholders across the organization.

Provides expertise with financial systems and databases. May be assigned to design, develop, and test expert-level queries, programs, and automation procedures for collecting and reporting data using knowledge of spreadsheets and database software programs.

Assists in the preparation of professional and accurate presentations, reports, and other deliverables for external audiences, senior management, and the Board.

Completes ratio analysis to determine trends and evaluate changes; may be assigned to calculate, provide, and monitor key financial metrics that are frequently reported to senior management and the Board.

May present and defend analysis and recommendations in both internal and external settings.

May review and/or prepare complex analyses and valuations relating to strategic investments, potential acquisitions, affiliations, or other similar arrangements.

May prepare analyses to support strategic decision making regarding Intermountain’s debt and derivatives portfolio, requiring in-depth understanding of capital markets, municipal bonds, and derivatives. May work with investment bankers, legal advisors, and other members of the financing team as part of the execution of debt-related transactions.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business with four years of professional experience conducting and evaluating routine financial analysis

Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business with two years of experience conducting and evaluating routine financial analysis. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.

Experience in a role with financial modeling and analysis responsibilities.

– and –

Experience in analyzing, interpreting, and utilizing a variety of complex data sets.

– and –

Experience in a role requiring effective project management skills, a high degree of accuracy, and sound decision making with limited supervision.

– and –

Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet and e-mail, and scheduling applications.

– and –

Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

MBA, Master’s in Finance, or Master’s in Accounting.

Two years of complex financial modeling experience.

Demonstrated proficiency and working knowledge of SQL.

Physical Requirements:
