As part of our ongoing mission to help strengthen America’s most under served and distressed communities by supporting and advocating for children, we are always seeking to increase our impact. To make this happen, we need to solidify the strength of our finance department by adding a Controller to our team. 

Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will lead the day-to-day finance operations of a budget of $30 million and provide servant leadership to a team of 3. Our ideal candidate will possess the ability to translate technical financial information into accessible communication for non-financial stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess the desire and ability to grow with the Foundation toward a CFO role. Our Foundation needs an individual who will be passionate about our mission and ready to be an active part of the team.

Responsibilities:   

  • Create quarterly reports to be used in BoD meetings
  • Lead and assist with the Foundation’s financial reporting process
  • Liaise with external auditors
  • Properly discuss new and anticipated accounting pronouncements with external auditors
  • Create and oversee a workflow management plan to ensure deadlines are met
  • Create and maintain strong internal controls
  • Collaborate with department heads and staff in the arena of departmental financial analysis
  • Responsible for the quarterly close process

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or finance with an advanced degree being preferred.
  • CPA certification
  • A minimum of 4 years advanced financial experience in a non-profit environment
  • Experience in managing the accounting functions, bank reconciliations, endowment accounting for a nonprofit organization including General Ledger, AR, and AP.
  • Familiarity with non-profit technical accounting
  • Strong technology skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and familiarity with QuickBooks
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with a strong attention to detail
