Position: Finance Officer

Grade: 5

Reports to: ACAPS Head of Support

Supervision of: None

Duty Station: Amman, Jordan

Travel: Not specifically required for the position

Duration & contract type: National, fixed term; ASAP until 31.12.2024 (possible extension)

ACAPS is a project hosted by NRC and therefore follows its financial systems and guidelines.

Purpose of the position

Provide solid financial management support to ACAPS, ensuring adherence and compliance with NRC and donor rules and supporting project implementation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Role and responsibilities

Generic Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  • Implement delegated support function portfolio according to plan of action
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  • Ensure proper filing of documents
  • Providing support and guidance to colleagues in relation to financial processes and procedures
  • Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function

Specific Responsibilities

  • Understand NRC’s financial systems, routines and procedures and make sure they are being put in practice.
  • Finance check for Purchase Requisitions and Bid analysis
  • Prepare supporting documents for expenses incurred by ACAPS (including credit cards, suppliers, and consultants), ensuring correct cost center, financial code, and donor code and compliance with NRC finance and procurement guidelines and payments
  • Follow up supplier/consultant payments with NRC Geneva
  • Prepare bank account post back for booking
  • Ensure all consultants and suppliers are processed timely especially at the end of a project
  • Support the finance team in preparing the Monthly Budget versus Actuals
  • Prepare the Monthly salary allocation and other costs
  • Perform other duties in the department as appropriate

QUALIFICATIONS

Competencies

Professional competencies

  • Minimum 1 year of experience from working as finance assistant
  • Finance experience with NRC an asset
  • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts desirable
  • Experience from working in humanitarian context desirable
  • Solid knowledge of computer software and modern accounting systems
  • Proficient in MS Office Excel
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to organise multiple, simultaneous tasks, and deliver results within a specified period
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal
