We are seeking a Finance Manager for this office to lead our talented finance team in developing, implementing, and coordinating all financial and budgetary aspects of our programs in Ukraine. This position is part of our leadership team and is a great opportunity to build capacity and serve our frontline workers as they work to meet both physical and spiritual needs.

A day in the life of a Finance Manager:

In the role of Finance Manager, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Provide support to Base Managers and/or Program Managers with regard to financial policies/practices and related areas as required.
  • Review and approve financial transactions for field operations based in the region as appropriate (includes vouchers, FERs, Cash Advances, transfers, etc.)
  • Perform daily functions including recording all cash, check and bank transfer transactions, maintain cash and bank ledgers, monitor cash advances and field expense reports, reconcile cash on hand and monthly bank reconciliation
  • Facilitate internal and external audits for the Samaritan’s Purse Ukraine emergency relief
  • Assist with the review of local payroll and payroll taxes for all Ukraine field sites on a monthly basis
  • Participate in the emergency tender committee and give sound input regarding budget utilization and budget availability for planned procurements
  • Provide required monthly financial reports by specified deadlines to the Country Director and Headquarters
  • Ensure adequate cash flow for operations and safety of financial resources at base
  • Ensure all cash is reconciled on a weekly basis, reporting any over/under to country office and investigate any over/under situations
  • Lead your finance team by providing direction, coordination, and evaluation. This includes interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university with an emphasis in accounting or related field of study; CPA or equivalent certification preferred; or equivalent combination of accounting education and managerial experience
  • Strong relational skills and financial management experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with people of different educational, linguistic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Above average communication skills-both verbal and written
  • Experience with foreign currencies and grants management preferred
  • Proven management experience
  • Must be able to remain level-headed in an adverse and stressful environment
  • Proficiency with software and intuitive ability in learning new computer programs
  • Cheerful, diplomatic, encourager, concern for the spiritual well-being of the team
  • Microsoft Office Suite; in particular, Excel, is required
  • A strong desire to develop and empower national staff
  • Ability to travel to field sites to monitor finances
  • Experience working and living overseas; with ability to be flexible and adaptable
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required)
