The Opportunity

Finance Lead – Germany opportunity has responsibility for:

  • To lead all financial transaction processing and reconciliations, ensuring that robust controls are in operation and workloads are managed effectively.
  • To regularly evaluate the operation of processes and controls and discuss with budget holders necessary, making use of KPIs to monitor compliance.
  • To lead on compliance with the Group policies and GAAP (German/IFRS), ensuring that all procedures, policies and transactions are business focused and communicated effectively.
  • To collaborate across local and EU team to ensure new income generation initiatives incorporate sound financial controls and efficient processes whilst meeting business need.
  • To develop and maintain a continuous improvement culture, focusing on efficient ways of working for both current and new processes.
  • To execute the annual statutory year-end requirements, agreeing timetables and responsibilities with all involved, with the primary focus being to achieve a clean audit.
  • To ensure that local stakeholders are provided with accurate, timely and relevant information.
  • To lead on technical accounting compliance requirements, developing knowledge throughout the Local team where appropriate to ensure compliance.
  • To report to the Country Manager with updated finance performance (e.g., P&L, cashflow) to support the company’s strategic business plans.
  • To prepare VAT returns input, providing support to the tax advisors if required, managing the minimization of irrecoverable VAT.
  • The provision of pro-active taxation, focusing on compliance and tax minimization.
  • To prepare and authorize the monthly payroll process, working with HR in maintaining an efficient service. Provision of cover for payroll requirements where necessary.
  • To manage property leasehold, for both head office and the regions (if applicable).
  • To cooperate with Customs authority regarding ordering tax stamps and excise goods movement.

The Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business or any other related field.
  • Experience: 7+ in accounting
  • Language: German mother tongue, English (spoken and written)
  • IT: MS Navision, Excel, BI’s
  • GAAP: German, IFRS
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze data
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent resource management
  • Ability to communicate at different levels
  • Sensitivity to different cultural norms
  • Go getter and self-starter
  • Driven with an entrepreneurial mindset
