JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Finance Coordinator.

Project / Department Title: Finance.

Direct supervisor / Reports to: Finance Manager.

Job Purpose:

To provide and ensure consistent, timely, and accurate financial management and administration of the organization’s finances, financial systems, processes, and records to meet the organization’s financial goals, to assist in ensuring compliance with all appropriate regulatory, policy, and legal requirements, and to assist in securing and maintaining the long-term financial viability and stability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Make accurate entries in the accounting system to maintain an accurate filing and coordinate all financial processes of sub-offices including general ledgers, internal accounts, accounts payable and accounts receivable, payroll, statutory remittances, budget monitoring, and other financial processes as required
  • Monitor and record cash disbursements, expenditures, and receipts of the organization, ensuring timely, effective, and accurate record keeping and ensure availability and timely providing the cash in the sub-offices to implement project activities
  • Manage and assign tasks to his/her subordinates then ensuring timely completion of the assigned tasks reviewing and approving their outputs to make sure that they are accurate and standardized
  • Coordinate with other finance staff and staff from other departments preparing cash flow forecast for every project and follow-up project payments including accruals and advises the programs and operations department on all budgetary and financial matters.
  • Provide support in budget preparation, amendment, and finalization the tracking project budget during all project phases
  • Review and approve payment orders to vendors and money transfer request to sub- offices and ensure availability and timely providing the cash in the sub-offices to implement project activities.
  • Prepare and submit the monthly and final financial report for each project on time according to donor requirement and responding the donor comments in coordination with other departments.
  • Perform month-end and year-end procedures including, but not limited to preparing all month-end reconciliations and year-end working papers for the organization’s annual audit
  • Ensure timely and accurate adherence to all internal policies and procedures, Local laws and regulations and all donors compliance rules
  • Coordinate and assist the external auditors during their audit fieldwork. Ensure that all audited financial statement deadlines are met
  • Supervise and train his/her subordinates in Turkey and in sub-offices and share his experience improving the financial department capacity
  • Develop working tools and software to facilitate routine financial works and increase his and his subordinate’s capacity
  • Support Finance Manager and executives with projects and tasks when required

Note: the above-mentioned key responsibilities/accountabilities are illustrative ones. Other future responsibilities/accountabilities may be assigned to the job depending on the department’s organizational chart.

Qualification (Education – Work Experience):

Essential:

  • At least Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, business administration, accounting, or any related fields.
  • At least 1 Year experience as finance coordinator or higher.
  • 10 Years of experience in financial sector including 3 years at least in NGO`s as finance staff.

Desirable:

  • Master or Ph. D. degree in finance, or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of Turkish finance regulations.
