JOB PURPOSE

The Finance & Control Specialist is in charge of preparing, reconciling, and analysing the accounting records and financial reports of the Field and Headquarters under his/her responsibility. S/he takes part in providing reliable, accurate, and timely accounting data through implementation of various accounting tasks and services. S/he adheres to the existing financial rules to help maintain ICRC’s trustworthiness and business continuity.

Main Responsibilities:

The Financial Control Specialist works with a team under the Finance Shared Services, that primarily

  • Conducts monthly reconciliation & deviation analysis of actual vs budgeted staff positions and reports discrepancies noted for correction • Processes incoming requests for staff positions and checks if included in the budget
  • Supports on the preparation of Budget targets, acts as a focal point on budgetary queries for departments, performs quality checks
  • Prepares the forecast based on the analysis of actual vs budgeted staff positions
  • Set-up proper control on the approval and updating of Authorized Signature list
  • Performs new investment policy accounting activities such as creation of Project cost centers and Project IDs and responds to inquiries from stakeholders
  • Prepares financial monthly monitoring reviews and identifies potential discrepancies
  • Creates and updates the Headquarters and CSN cost centers
  • Support the Headquarters finance focal points on financial questions
  • Support the Headquarters year-end activities (budget carry forwards, accruals)

Required Profile:

  • Certified Public Accountant/CPA
  • 3-4 years working experience in financial accounting
  • Very good computer skills (Excel, Word) and good understanding in Peoplesoft
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English
  • Strong analytical, planning, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Flexible, process and output-driven
