Wellcome is a global charitable foundation. We improve health for everyone by funding science, leading policy and advocacy campaigns, and building partnerships.

We plan to spend £16bn over the next ten years, funding new discoveries in life, health and wellbeing, and taking on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease and climate.

These challenges need the bold research our funding supports, but they won’t be solved by science alone. We are looking for a Finance Business partner for a 12 months Fixed Term Contract (FTC) to ensure financial performance considerations and control measures are fully incorporated into the delivery of Wellcome’s mission through effective partnering with specific areas of the organisation.

This role is part of the Commercial Finance and Planning and Analysis Team, the team provide business partnering across the organisation to enable effective decision making, manage the financial planning process as well as producing analysis and reporting for ELT, the Board of Governors and to each area of the organisation.

In this role you will

  • Build strong relationships with stakeholder areas
  • Provide relevant analysis to improve the quality of decisions
  • Ensure delivery of insightful, relevant, business and financial reporting
  • Deliver quality planning, budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Work collaboratively and support the organisation to develop robust project plans, with suitable budgets, milestones and deliverables: pulled together in high quality business cases
  • Undertake financial due diligence on institutions applying for funding and monitor risk associated with existing awards, proposing mitigating actions where required
  • Ensure that appropriate financial controls are in place and operative to provide assurance on financial activity both within Wellcome and for relevant third parties.
  • Identify and contribute to process improvements
  • Contribute to the creation and development of a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments.

To be successful in this role you will have

  • CA/ACCA/CIMA or relevant qualification
  • Experience working in a core accounting role, specifically month-end oriented
  • Experience of providing management accounting advice and support to stakeholders
  • Advanced Excel and intermediate PowerPoint and Word skills
  • Experience using finance and analytical systems e.g. Agresso/Unit4, TM1, Tableau
  • Ability to manage own workload with focus on delivery; as well as to work on own or as part of a multi-functional team

Salary: £53,504
