fin-house

Fin-business partner = Finance Manager

Role Summary

This is no ordinary finance role… If you’re after normality, this isn’t for you!

We’re transforming the finance function into a value adding machine, powered by scalable systems and processes, and led by our superb fin-rockstars. Say goodbye to functions that simply produce numbers and say hello to proactive insight and support that fuels growth.

As one of our super talented fin-business partners you’ll be the glue that holds everything together and not just in finance! You’ll be working closely with our clients, immersing yourself in their organisations and ultimately will become an extension of their team. Building relationships, showing empathy and earning trust is of fundamental importance to being successful in this role.

You’ll be working across a portfolio of companies, likely to be in different industries and at different stages of their journey. One week that might be two startup’s, the next a balance between an established SME and an NGO. You’ll be able to make a real impact with each and every organisation you work with and be a key player in the finance function.

What’s also hugely significant about this role is being a team player and an expert communicator. This is as much about people as it is about an awesome finance function. You’ll need to be a superhero strength when it comes to organising your time and having the agility, focus and attention to detail to enable you to work across more than one company in a given week.

Three reasons this role is great

  1. You’ll be at the forefront of innovation in the finance function and make an impact to every organisation you support. You’ll be adding value, not just producing numbers!
  2. You’ll gain extensive experience across a wide variety of industries and sectors working in some of the most exciting startups and impact-driven organisations.
  3. The pace at which your career in finance will progress will be quicker here and we will work with you on a purposeful career development plan, with on-going mentoring.

Your day to day

Working across your portfolio of clients you’ll be performing the following tasks:

  • Producing insight that drives impact and supports decision-making across your portfolio. This will also include storytelling and messaging – so that the numbers, trends, analytics are brought to life.
  • Managing the end-to-end budgeting and forecasting process – with the latter being key in that your role is to really bring our values to life and help each organisation remain agile and future focused.
  • Overseeing month end to ensure all necessary data is captured/processed by our fin-operators.
  • Building strong relationships both internally and externally across your portfolio so you are the trusted business partner for all things finance.
  • Lead on kick-off meetings for new organisations.
  • Mentoring and coaching fin-operators across your portfolio and wider fin-house team.
  • Leading on change management projects – whether that be in the form of new software, processes, people, expansion to new territories or new commercial opportunities. You’ll be helping clients to navigate the challenges from scoping to implementation and continued evaluation after.

You should join us if

  • You’ll strive to support in building long-term value to our clients.
  • You’re a team player that wants to be part of a vibrant, collaborative and tight knit culture.
  • You’re a fast learner who has no difficulty in picking up new technologies and can easily adapt to new situations.
  • You have a bias for action and love problem solving.
  • You have intellectual curiosity and a passion for continuous learning and development.
  • You love all things tech and using big data to create impactful insight that supports decision-making.

You will need

  • An accountancy qualification is desirable but we’re willing to consider relevant alternative paths.

  • Experience with Xero and/or Quickbooks is ideal.
  • Excellent communication and people skills with high levels of self-awareness and an ability to hold the room.
  • Superb attention to detail.
  • An ability to think and act with an agile and pro-active mindset
  • Impeccable time-management and overall organisation skills with an ability to multi-task across different clients each day!
