JOB PURPOSE

As a Finance Business Partner, you will provide high quality and comprehensive financial support and guidance to budget holders and other stakeholders, promoting sound budget management and ensuring financial resources are allocated in the most effective way possible.

Please note that this is a 1-year fixed term contract.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for an accountant who has significant experience as a finance business partner, providing support and guidance to key stakeholders in areas such as budget management, financial forecasting, and risk management.

The successful candidate will be a strong relationship builder able to communicate financial information clearly and concisely for internal stakeholders.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build relationships and engage budget holders to allow open communication and ensure finance and non-finance staff are aware of the financial impact of management decisions.
  • Support effective financial decision making through supporting preparation of monthly IS management accounts and finance reports for programmes. Lead ongoing review and redesign of financial reporting to ensure reports are fit for purpose and effectively support analysis and decision making.
  • Support the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager and programme budget holders in planning for and carrying out the annual budgeting & planning process. Design and lead training, develop budget templates, carry out analysis and produce budget information packs for Senior Director review.
  • Act as finance partner on a range of organisation-wide change projects, ensuring affordability, tracking against budget, reporting of project spend to key stakeholders, and providing recommendations based on financial analysis.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant chartered accountant qualification (or working towards one) or have significant relevant experience.
  • Significant experience in management reporting, i.e. producing quality financial information to strict deadlines.
  • Experience in preparing and monitoring budgets, ability to identify budget problems and to solve them.
  • Systems experience
  • Intermediate/advanced Excel (essential)
  • Intermediate PowerPoint (essential)
  • Microsoft D365 (preferred)
  • Basic VBA (preferred)
  • Power BI (preferred)
