THE ROLE AND ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The Contribution Accounting and Donor Financial Reporting (FINC) Branch of the WFP Corporate Finance Division contribute to the organization’s accountability to donors on the utilization of contributions through support to financial management on accounting for contributions, provision of guidance and preparation and certification of donor financial reports.

The objectives of the Unit are to (i) Ensure timely and accurate reporting to donors, (ii) Ensure effectiveness of financial management in accounting for contributions, income and expenditures and (iii) support Country Offices on contribution financial management under Country Portfolio Budget.

You will be responsible for augmenting the unit’s current capacity in integrating automation and digitalization in donor financial reporting processes, for a period up to 4 years.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

You will:

1 – Manage the development and maintenance of FINC branch digitalization and automation and other required contribution management and donor reporting monitoring reports, business objects (BO), platform and tools by carrying out the following duties:

  • Maintain an implementation calendar for the rollout of the different update releases of the reports, business objects (BO), platforms, tools, and Robotic Process Automations (RPAs)
  • Maintain the monitoring reports, business objects (BO), platforms and tools to ensuring the up to date in the changing circumstances and situations in relevant to the objectives
  • Coordinate the input of relevant internal and external stakeholders including but not limit to Information Technology (IT), Finance, Budget, Partnership Advocacy and Programming
  • Ensure data included in the monitoring reports, Business objects (BO), platforms, tools and RPAs are consistent as the per one source information concept and aligned with the needs of the final users
  • Propose and coordinate technical solutions in coordination with other Finance branches and the IT
  • Perform and coordinate the testing of the tools
  • Prepare presentations, Training, and guidelines material for the diffusion of the tool for the new tool rollout if applicable
  • Perform as a key resource focal point – both on an advisory and technical capacity to the branch, divisional and corporate initiatives such as reporting excellence, cross-functional initiatives to enhance efficiency in grants management processes

2 – Perform complex analysis from a financial/ technical perspective to support country offices on donor financial reporting and project funds management

3 – Contribute to updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) guidelines and communicating materials vs online sessions where necessary

4 – Other duties as required by the supervisors or Chief of the Unit

QUALIFICATIONS AND KEY REQUIREMENTS

Education:

You have:

  • Advanced University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Engineering and or business administration related, or First University degree with relevant years of experience.

Experience:

You have:

  • Minimum 5 years of postgraduate professional experience in at least one of the following areas: data analytics, project management, analysis, reporting, automation, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Accounting and/or finance-related working experience.

Language:

You have:

  • Fluency (level C) in the English language.
  • Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or Portuguese (A WFP’s working language) is desirable.

MORE ABOUT YOU

  • You are familiar with SAP systems and data/information in ERP system
  • You have good excel, macro and data processing skills
  • You can review a variety of data, identify data discrepancies
  • You can prepare reports with scrutiny
  • You have strong quantitative analytical skills
  • You have strong project management skills, including excellent planning, negotiation and activities implementation
  • You have demonstrated ability to successfully work in a multi-cultural and dynamic environment.
  • You can work independently towards challenging targets and strict deadlines
  • You are able to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

ADDITIONAL / NICE-TO-HAVE REQUIREMENTS

  • Familiarity with SAP modules (Grants Module, Fund Management and Financial information modules), Salesforce and Business Objects is desirable.
  • Familiarity with WFP and the UN system will be regarded as an asset

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT

  • Ensure agreed reports, Business Objects, platforms, tools, automations, and RPAs in relevant to donor financial reporting both standard and specialized reports are in place, implemented, up to date and well maintained in serving their objectives.
  • Validation rules are maintained, documented and ready for handover by the end of contract.
  • Technical solution discussed and implemented is communicated, shared, and documented either through guidelines or tools and channels agreed with the supervisors.
  • Accuracy and timely delivery in all tasks performed with the organized, accurate and well documented records conforming required and agreed format.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Limited Fixed-Term Appointment (LFT) position is a non-mobile staff appointment in the international professional category for a limited period (2 years, with a possible extension up to max. 4 years). Incumbents of LFT positions are not eligible to apply for other mobile positions advertised internally through the Reassignment.

Mobility is and continues to be a core contractual requirement in WFP. This position is however classified as “non-rotational” which means the incumbent shall not be subject to the regular reassignment process unless the position is reclassified as rotational.
