Finance Associate

Malteser International Americas

Purpose: The part-time Finance Associate (FA) will oversee and manage all finances of Malteser International Americas (MIA). The FA supports and advises the teams and partner organization and acts as a financial controller towards all MI Americas finances. Further, the FA ensures accurate and timely financial records, maintains all bookkeeping, invoices, vouchers, receipts and disbursements, general ledger, analyzes, controlling, budgeting, annual statement, and audit preparation.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure full compliance with USGAAP and donor regulations.
  • Act as the primary person for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial activities.
  • Reconcile balance sheets, profit and loss, and summary reconciliation reports to the executive.
  • Provide financial reports and interpret financial information to managerial staff while recommending further courses of action.
  • Advise teams in-country and overseas on financial procedures, methods, and tools.
  • Act as focal point for financial compliance of donor regulations especially for US government grants.
  • Support finance teams with accounting, financial planning, reporting and grant applications and funder reports.
  • Oversee all activities related to state and federal tax compliance issues.
  • Prepare and accompany annual audit, tax documentation, and Form 990 preparation.
  • Create/monitor expense and cash flow forecast.
  • Prepare annual 1099s to contractors.
  • Manage grant activities, restricted & reserve funds.
  • Streamline processes and contribute to maintain the financial health of the company by updating/develop policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of three years’ work experience in finance
  • Experience using bookkeeping software including QuickBooks
  • Ability to multi-task and close attention to detail is essential
  • Mathematical, written, and verbal skills
  • Organizational skills are a must, along with ability to prioritize tasks
  • Professional demeanor
  • Team player
  • Extremely trustworthy and reliable
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Spanish language skills required
  • French Language Skills a + but not required

Job Type: Part-Time

Salary: $25,000 to $30,000 per year
