The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a Finance and HR Associate to be an integral part of the US GAIN Office supporting the daily finance, HR and office management functions. This role will be offered on a permanent contract based in GAIN USA Office, Washington D.C., USA.

GAIN is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially those most vulnerable to malnutrition.

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Associate, Finance and Operations, the Finance and HR Associate will be supporting the US GAIN office with HR activities, finance and accounting, office management and administrative tasks. You will actively build and maintain systems, processes, and strong working relationships with a range of individuals inside GAIN and other organisations to ensure the effective and efficient functioning of the US Office.

Role specifics include:

  • Managing payroll and benefits administration, ensuring administrative and compliance tasks are completed on schedule
  • Serving as HR Representative for the US office supporting GAIN HQ, supporting with recruitment, performance assessment, onboarding, and separation processes whenever necessary
  • Raising awareness of and promoting the various learning and development and well-being initiatives available to staff.
  • Responsible for the US office financial accounting (e.g., A/P and A/R) maintaining financial transactions through the financial system
  • Performing month end tasks such as bank reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliations
  • Serving as the US office “Procurement Champion”, providing training, guidance, and support with GAIN’s procurement system and policies to the US office and other colleagues
  • Supporting with general office management tasks such as sending/receiving packages and ordering office supplies/equipment, reporting repairs and managing office support requests
  • Managing all tasks related to the agenda and travel for the KL Director and providing additional administrative support for the KL team

About you

The ideal candidate should have experience in providing excellent and high-quality support withing a multifaceted administrative or operations focused role. You should have good knowledge and a demonstrated understanding of office management, HR, and financial principles.

The postholder should have good interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work effectively in a fast paced and international environment. You should have the ability to prioritize, multi-task and work well under pressure with deadlines. In addition to this, you will be a proactive self-starter, with a commitment to quality and accuracy with close attention to detail.

Candidates with an educational background in Finance and Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration or related fields is highly desirable.

About our offer

The starting salary on offer for this role is from 63,792 – 68,328 USD per annum (A higher increment maybe available subject to an ongoing pay review, depending on experience.)
