Mennonite Central Committee Kenya seeks a Finance and Administrative Officer for its Nairobi office to begin by May 2022.

Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) is a worldwide ministry of Anabaptist churches and shares God’s love and compassion for all in the name of Christ by responding to basic human needs and working for peace and justice. MCC envisions communities worldwide in right relationship with God, one another and creation. In Kenya, MCC supports projects with local partner organizations in food security, health, education, and peacebuilding. The MCC Kenya office is in Westlands.

Responsibilities

Financial Management and Reporting

  • Carry out financial transactions for MCC Kenya
  • Conduct banking transactions such as withdrawals, deposits, reconciliations, etc.
  • Process payroll in a timely and accurate manner using SAGE
  • Remit PAYE, NHIF, NSSF and withholding taxes
  • Enter financial transaction data into MCC’s FASWin accounting software
  • Submit monthly financial reports to Mennonite Central Committee headquarters
  • Participate in annual internal and external audit processes
  • Ensure safe custody of the cash box and disburse funds in accordance with procedures and approvals
  • Maintain a filing system that documents all financial transactions and procedures
  • Conduct several financial reviews of partner organizations each year, including follow-up

Administration

  • Carry out MCC Kenya government liaison duties including submission of documents for the NGO Coordination Board and KRA
  • Receive incoming phone calls, general emails, and postal mail
  • Arrange workshops and meetings (venue, catering, accommodation, transport, etc.)
  • Assist in making travel arrangements (ground and air, hotels, etc.)
  • Purchase supplies and equipment for office and kitchen
  • Manage insurance and vehicle registration for MCC Kenya
  • Supervise office cleaner
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related degree
  • 2-5 years relevant experience, preferably in an NGO
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • English and Kiswahili fluency both written and spoken
  • Legal right to work in Kenya
