In Mozambique, MCC has five partners with eleven projects. Our programmatic areas include disaster relief, conservation agriculture, education, and peacebuilding. The Christian Council of Mozambique Tete (CCM-Tete) is one of MCC partners and has a Conservation Agriculture and Food Security program funded by Canadian Food Grains Bank (CFGB). MCC’s work with CCM-Tete is primarily related to food security and livelihoods focusing on conservation agriculture.

Position Title: Finance and Administrative Officer

Reporting to: Country Representatives

Full Time Employment: 1.00

Employment Type: National Staff

Location: Beira, Mozambique

Start Date: ASAP

Financial Tasks:

  • Enter financial transaction data in FASWin, MCC’s accounting software
  • Generate FASWin monthly financial reports
  • Manage incoming and outcoming online bank transfers, including currency exchanges at MCC bank accounts in Mozambique
  • Disburse grant tranches to partners and maintain tranche confirmation register
  • Produce monthly fund requests to MCC for Rep submission to headquarters
  • Complete monthly tax submissions to Mozambique Revenue Authority
  • Manage staff pay, tax, and benefit records, including tax IDs and payroll register.
  • Keep track of changes in Mozambique tax law and immediately update Reps of changes
  • Draft quarterly budget comparisons
  • Double check all financial reports from Mozambique project partners
  • Conduct partner financial reviews
  • Compile materials requested for year-end reporting and audits
  • Produce annual financial reports to Mozambique Revenue Authority for Rep’s submission
  • Document office procedures and update information
  • Manage office cash box and advances to staff

Administrative Tasks:

  • Maintain office financial records and paper files
  • Support program project data entry (especially partner financial reports) in PlanWin data base
  • In collaboration with Office and Government Relations Manager, provide logistical support for MCC service workers, including for meetings and workshops, travel arrangements
  • Be responsible for office security procedures to protect people and property
  • Provide oral and written English – Portuguese – English translation as needed
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications Expected:

  • Bachelor’s in Finance or Accounting with at least 2 years of experience in the INGO sector
  • CPA certification a strong plus
  • Familiarity with Mozambique Revenue Authority tax regulations
  • Competent in use of Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel
  • Teamwork, Integrity, Sensitivity to diversity, Flexibility and adaptability, Initiative and Interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Portuguese
  • Committed to Christian faith as demonstrated through participation in a church community.
  • Committed to MCC values of peace and justice.
  • Right to work and live in Mozambique
