Geneva Global Hub for Education in Emergencies

Background

Faced with the under-prioritization and underfunding of education in emergencies (EiE), and given the magnitude of the challenge, the members of the Geneva Global Hub for Education in Emergencies (EiE Hub) – with INEE being one of the original co-signatories and the co-chair of the Steering Group – have come together to form an alliance of like-minded states and organizations to step up awareness of, political and operational dedication to, and funding for EiE. Their objective is to break down existing silos and harness the potential that International Geneva offers to effect change for EiE. They will do so by catalyzing joint action, promoting policy dialogue, and facilitating multi-stakeholder alliances and partnerships. This will add to ensuring the continuity and delivery of safe, quality education for crisis-affected children and youth.

Major Responsibilities:

This position is a part-time (30%) position which will provide efficient financial and administrative services for the EiE Hub. In particular:

Tasks – Finance and Legal

  • Prepare and update on a regular basis the budgets
  • In charge of the accounting and monthly closings ensuring accurate recording in the accounting systems, and validating invoices, acquiring approvals, and processing payments
  • Maintain accounts general ledgers and financial reports
  • Produce intermediate and final financial reports for funders
  • Prepare annual accounts
  • Review quotes and bills with external providers
  • Supervise the office’s Swiss bank accounts, and cash flow management
  • Responsible for the accounting processes and procedures for the office
  • Review donors’ contracts before signature
  • Assist with budgets and funding applications
  • Legal: prepare notes for General Assembly annual meeting in collaboration with the Coordinator

Tasks – Administration and Human Resources

  • Support the establishment of work contracts for internal staff
  • Provide support for the recruitment and onboarding of new staff
  • Provide general administrative assistance to the Secretariat and the EiE community
  • Overall support to the organization of EiE Hub activities, as relevant
  • Perform and realize other duties that may be requested

Job Requirements:

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years significant related work experience
  • Knowledge of Swiss finance and administrative systems and regulations
  • Financial skills including supervising budgets and financial reporting
  • Experience working with sophisticated projects involving different partners
  • Experience working in a professional and international office environment an asset

Skills and Proficiencies:

  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail, the ability to complete sophisticated projects
  • Excellent writing, editing, and formatting skills
  • Proficiency in English and French
  • Ability to work independently as well as virtually with team members in a global environment
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Understanding of International Geneva an asset
