ABOUT US

Established in 2005, Fairtrade Africa (FTA) is a member of Fairtrade International and the umbrella network organization representing Fairtrade-certified Producer Organizations in Africa and the Middle East. It has four (4) regional networks – Eastern & Central Africa; Southern Africa; West Africa; and the Middle East & North Africa. FTA currently represents 1,354,294 farmers and workers in 660 producer organizations spread across 28 countries in Africa and the Middle East by providing services to them that contribute to the improvement of their livelihoods.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Finance Support

  • Prepare and maintain cash controls, reconciliation of bank statements, process invoices and maintain purchase order systems in accordance with the FTA financial policies.
  • Ensure transactions are recorded and entered into the computerized accounting system in an accurate, timely and transparent manner
  • Maintain the office petty cash and staff imprest systems
  • Assist with preparation and consolidation of all projects under equity 2budgets
  • Support particularly the equity 2 project teams in budget revision; financial reporting and others actions related.

Requisitions and Procurement

  • Prepare requisitions for revenue for facilitation of workshops and training sessions
  • Prepare and facilitate requisitions for procurement of office assets and other office running costs
  • Establish, maintain and update the supplier’s data base
  • Regularly, maintain supplies database
  • Facilitate travel requests for FTA consultants, board members and staff

Human Resources and Administrative Support

  • Ensure all transport and travel issues are handled effectively
  • Ensure the kitchen supplies are provided
  • Maintain manual and computerized records of staff files
  • Ensure annual renewal of licenses done on time
  • Establish good relations with suppliers
  • Provide answers to customers and answering calls

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Qualifications

  • A degree in Business Administration
  • Certified accountancy qualification

Experience and Knowledge

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar position developing and monitoring budgets for project management
  • Knowledge of the local taxation laws and general accounting convention
  • Knowledge of accounting software

Skills

  • Excellent numeracy skills and attention to detail
  • MS Office applications especially Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Excellent oral and written communication
