Trace Systems is actively recruiting for an experienced Field Service Representative (FSR) to provide training, platform installation, operational field support, and network management to forward deployed operations in Europe. Primary location will be in Iraq with frequent travel to other European countries. Additional TDY assignments may include travel to Afghanistan, Iraq, Africa and throughout Southwest Asia.
MWR Internet Cafe Program is a satellite and terrestrial communication program that provides deployed US service members and support staff contractors with Internet access at deployed locations. The FSRs are the customers’ first touch point into the service, and serve as the most direct and immediate source of feedback for system performance, operational expectation, and overall operational value.
FSRs Will Be Responsible For
Trace Systems is looking for FSR’s with the ability to navigate the deployed environment, resolve service problems, perform maintenance; and install, configure and test VSAT and terrestrial Internet cafe services.
- Communications equipment and services.
- Troubleshooting VSAT, LAN, and WLAN hardware using test instruments and diagnostic tools.
- Preparing VSAT, and baseband equipment for installation by inventorying, testing, or modifying equipment as required.
- Cabling assemblies and associated VSAT and LAN devices IAW established standards and Government-articulated design, fabrication, and installation specifications.
- Candidate shall support the execution and evaluation of VSAT, LAN and WLAN and related equipment and technologies during its use in operational theaters.
- Candidate shall coordinate the introduction of Internet cafe related technologies and equipment with various operational commands and/or Agencies and their supporting organizations.
- Candidate shall facilitate the distribution, deployment, installation, training, and preventive maintenance of Internet cafe equipment in each operational theater working with DISA, operational commands, and other as necessary.
- Candidate will be required to work 72 hours per week.
- Candidate shall be on call to provide 24×7 onsite support to operational forces conducting real world operations.
- Shall develop formal practices and procedures for the operational fielding of Internet cafe sponsored technologies.
- This position requires an active, in-scope Secret clearance.
- Due to US Government requirements, US Citizenship is required.
- Appropriate technical certifications and experience with ISP/OSP cabling, VSAT, Cisco routing and firewall technology, IP fundamentals, and desktop & peripheral technologies.
- Must be able to live and operate in austere and rugged contingency combat environments.
- Have the ability to travel throughout the region as needed.
- Adapt to evolving mission requirements.
- Must be able to travel to austere locations to small FOBs and other bases across CENTCOM AOR.
- Will be required to travel frequently by ground convoys and other modes of Military transportation which often experience extensive delays and hostile combat environments.
- Ability to live and work in a deployed contingency environment (shared cafeteria, shared bath and sleeping quarters, limited amenities).
- Must be able to carry 50s pounds for distances of up to ¼ mile.
- Must be able to work outside for extended hours in temperatures exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit
- Position will require bending, kneeling, or crawling to route cables under, inside and on top of vehicles.
- Able to work on ladder, multi-story buildings to install antennas.
- Must be in good health and have the ability to successfully complete medical examinations as dictated by the U.S. Army (CRC).
- Working understanding of Army/Marine Corps logistic forms policy and procedures or need to understand basic military concepts.
- Possess a current United States Passport valid at least until 2020.
- Possess a valid United States Driver’s License in good standing.
- Must be able to obtain a valid FBI background check to obtain Afghanistan residency visa.
- Military Signal Planning and Training Background.
- Experience with remote VSAT communications systems.
- Experience with basic networking and network protocols.
- Understanding of military organizations and Infantry/Combined Arms operations.
- Prior military instructor experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft suite applications.
- Prior experience working overseas is a plus.
- Minimum of 4 years working with applicable technologies.
- Current Afghan Visa or the ability to obtain one.
- Current Afghan Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one.
- Knowledge of the Visa process for in Theater locations such as Afghanistan, Iraq or Kuwait.
- Experience as a Theater Lead FSR.
- High school or trade school diploma
- Additional experience can be substituted in lieu of a diploma
