Job Title:                             Field Coordinator

Duty Station:                       West Mosul, Ninewa, Iraq

 

Brief description of the organization

Al Mesalla for Human Resources Development is a non-governmental organization established in 2004 registered in Baghdad and Erbil with headquarters located in Erbil. The organization is working at disseminating a culture of human rights and peace building in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. The organization is currently working along 3 programs: A non-violence and peace building program developing peace capacities within the community; a women and Gender program empowering women to take an active role in the community and a Human Rights Program which focuses especially on enhancing freedom of expression. Since June 2014, Al Mesalla developed services to the growing refugee and displaced community settling in the Kurdish Region of Iraq by participating to distributing emergency support and establishing empowerment and livelihoods programs for displaced women in particular.

 

BACKGROUND

In partnership with PAX, Al-Mesalla implements “Transformative Justice Project” in West Mosul, Tal’afer district, and Sinjar District. The project aims to enhance (Gender equality) Increased space for marginalized and disadvantaged groups to participate in transitional justice processes, and (Conflict transformation) Increased collaboration between inclusive victim groups to advocate for their rights, facilitating access to local, national, and international justice mechanisms and channels. For this purpose, Al-Mesalla hires a Field Coordinator in Mosul to facilitate the project implementation in Mosul.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordination

  • Coordinate with project staff to implement the project in effective and productive manner.
  • Coordinate with and report to Project Coordinator about the selection, activities, and documents of CBOs and voluntary groups that receive grants from the project.
  • Coordinate with relevant stockholders and partners to lead the project in collaborative and smoothly manner.
  • Coordinate with clusters and working groups in order to exchange the information and expand networking with other CBOs and voluntary groups.
  • Facilitate dialogue and seminars on different topics such as development policies; protect human and environmental rights, equal opportunities between men and women.
  • Build strong relationships with Iraqi institutions in order to enhance the communications channels between the Iraqi population and Iraqi institutions.  
  • Volunteer work when needed is a part of TOR

 

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Monitoring the project activities and training to ensure that meet with project plan.
  • Follow up with project staff to prepare monthly plan and reports and promoting a strong team spirit and providing oversight and guidance to enable staff to successfully perform in their positions.
  • Monitoring the process of selection, activities, and documents of CBOs and voluntary groups that receive grants from the project.
  • In order to identify the challenges and success stories, the Field Coordinator should meet with the team regularly.  
  • Monitoring and ensure the quality of the trainings that will be delivered to CBOs and voluntary groups.
  • Collect data and work on writing quantitative and qualitative reports and submit it to Project Coordinator in timely manner.
  • Provide high quality of activity and training reports.

 

Administrative

 

  • Assist with the recruitment of the project staff, in coordination with HR, and the Managers.
  • Prepare monthly logistic needs for project centers and the trainings, seminars, dialogue or a

 


Qualifications & Preferred Skills

  • University degree preferably in relevant subjects (Law, Political Science, Education, Economics, Development, International Relations, etc.).
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in development/humanitarian project management
  •  Required excellent oral and written English
  • Knowledge of standards and literature in human and environmental rights, policy-making, humanitarian and development principles, accountability, governance, advocacy and campaigning;
  • Working experience with local counterparts (CSOs, local NGOs, and others) or managing consortium of NGOs.
  • Excellent command and understanding of the project life cycle management from need assessment to evaluation;
  • Previous experience in empowering capacity building and/or training programs for adults: development of training curriculum, training needs assessment.
  • Proven capacities to plan activities successfully targeting results and objectives – Previous experience working under pressure and/or in hardship duty station
  • Team working skills and proactive attitude
  • Excellent computer literacy skills Desirable requirements:
  • Written and spoken Arabic and Kurdish language is an asset
  • Previous experience in capacity building programs for groups of adults related to the topics of PCM, incorporation of CSOs, Not for profit Management, Accountability, Development and Humanitarian Principles;
  • Previous experience in advocacy and campaigning
  • Previous experience in managing sub-grants
