HEKS/EPER

HEKS/EPER, Swiss Church Aid, supports projects designed to combat hunger, poverty and injustice in over 30 countries on four continents. HEKS/EPER also provides worldwide humanitarian assistance for victims of natural disasters and armed conflicts and supports the Church’s diaconal work in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. In Switzerland, HEKS/EPER champions the rights and causes of refugees and socially disadvantaged people. Through its development and social policy work in the fields of climate justice, access to land and food, migration, and integration, HEKS/EPER strives for systemic change – globally and in Switzerland.

With the onset of con%ict in Ukraine following the Russian invasion on the 24 th of February 2022, 6.5 million Ukrainians (approximately 15% of the population) have been internally displaced while 8 million (approximately 18.5% of the population) have %ed to neighboring countries. Major population centers are under siege with civilian infrastructure heavily damaged. Basic commodities are becoming scarce with critical services facing significant strain.

To ensure our work in the field of humanitarian aid in Ukraine, we are looking starting soon as possible or by arragment for a proactive and experienced:

Field Coordinator, East Ukraine, 100%

Your main responsibilities:

  • You manage the programming aspects of emergency operations in line with HEKS/EPER and donors’ standards, under the strategic guidance of the Senior Program Coordinator
  • In collaboration with the Country Representative (Director) and the Senior Program Coordinator, you design strategies and objectives for improved support to beneficiaries, propose new areas of intervention
  • You supervise the Area Managers, the Logisitics & Procurement and the Admin & Finance staff as well as the program heads of departement in his/her area of operations
  • You contribute towards promoting and adhering to HEKS’ Charter, Code of Conduct and Operating Principles
  • You support the AreaManagers and MEAL staff in designing and implementing a monitoring and evaluation system to evaluate programme results and makes recommendations for future programme directions
  • You lead and manage programming staff, encourages effective team work and providing supervision and guidance, especially on issues related to cross-sectoral collaboration and harmonizing approaches
  • You respect HEKS the security procedures in Ukraineand verifies with the Security Department regarding feasibility of potential field

To be successful you bring:

  • University Degree or similar
  • Minimun 3 years experience at similar experience in an NGOin the field
  • Experience working in emergency settings, conflict/post-conflict contexts and/or areas of high insecurity
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Pack Office (Word et Excel en particulier)
  • Excellent knowledge of the main donors mechanisms (USAID-BHA, ECHOetc.)
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Russian or Ukrainien language an asset
  • Excellent management skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team management
  • Able to work under stress and in difficult contexts
  • Able to interact with multiple partners –open-minded and skilled in Multicutural communication
