UN Volunteers

Volunteers will conduct various needs assessments and surveys deployed by UNHCR. These may include the UNHCR regional Intentions Survey, profiling of the sites accommodating refugees from Ukraine under the state-sponsored humanitarian accommodation programme, multi-sector needs assessment and other assessments as required. The mobilized volunteers under the supervision of UNHCR will be assigned to cover specific geographical areas within Burgas, Varna, Dobrich, Sofia, Blagoevgrad, Plovdiv and other regions, depending on the major locations of the facilities accommodating refugees from Ukraine.

The mobilized volunteers will conduct the following activities:

• Visit facilities currently accommodating refugees from Ukraine in their area of responsibility to support on site-profiling of these facilities.

• Interview refugees from Ukraine according to the questionnaires developed by UNHCR.

• Provide information to the refugees who are to be interviewed on the ongoing assessments and its objectives and procedures.

• Interpret interview questions to ensure refugees who are to be interviewed understand them and provide eloquent answers.

• Double-check information on survey forms or information pads to ensure the accuracy of information.

• Identify and report any issues that may arise while attempting to obtain valid data.

• Analyze the authenticity of the information provided by ensuring direct contact with each family member within a family.

• Provide information on the available services and assistance programmes available to the refugees from Ukraine.

• Identify and record/refer refugees with specific needs who require specialized services in accordance with UNHCR specific needs codes.

• Maintain communication with refugee communities using communication tools shared by UNHCR.

• Assist UNHCR in organizing participatory activities and awareness-raising sessions with persons of different age groups, gender and background.

• Provide feedback on the perspectives, capacities, needs and resources of refugees and asylum-seekers are reflected in protection planning processes, addressing the specific protection needs of women and men, children, youth and older persons, persons with disabilities and minority groups.

• Contribute to the Protection team’s information management component and support Information Management team on data tasks, when requested.

• Perform other duties as required.
