BO is operating to respond to the needs and basic requirements of the humanitarian crisis in Syria in the middle of the affected communities caused by the conflict the basic principles of BO’s activities are to enhance the basic living standards of the affected population by delivering humanitarian aid based on the needs.

Purpose of the position:

The Field Assistant is tasked with meticulously supervising the installation process of the shelter units to ensure alignment with project objectives, quality standards, and agreed-upon designs. In close collaboration with the field team, the Assistant ensures that project activities and outputs adhere to stipulated quality standards and are delivered punctually, strictly following the implementation plan and project objectives. This includes conducting the site assessment and assessing the selection of beneficiaries according to agreed-upon criteria, conducting interviews with beneficiaries, engaging in focused group discussions (FGDs), and proficiently completing questionnaires related to project activities for precise information collection. Additionally, the Assistant is responsible for verifying needs and compiling the necessary field reports to be submitted to the program officer.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  • Support the project team in conducting community mobilization, sensitization, and the selection/verification of project beneficiaries based on pre-set criteria.
  • Conduct site assessments and assess the selection of beneficiaries according to agreed-upon criteria.
  • Work closely with communities to ensure effective coordination and prioritize the selection of the most vulnerable individuals.
  • Ensure alignment of project activities with the project design, maintaining consistency across project locations.
  • Supervise and oversee the documentation of the project for all stages.
  • Participate in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) plans in coordination with the MEAL department.
  • Conduct or participate in assessments and donor liaison as appropriate.
  • Prepare and produce periodic project progress reports as required by management.
  • Ensure proper filing of documents.
  • Ensure that project target beneficiaries are those most in need and that services are properly delivered.
  • Promote and share ideas for technical improvement.
  • Develop weekly, monthly, and quarterly project implementation work plans and ensure the effective and efficient implementation of project activities as per the pre-designed work plans.
  • Comply with Bahar Organization policies and practices concerning child protection, code of conduct, PSEAH (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Harassment), data protection, health and safety, and equal opportunities.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned.

  • The job duties and responsibilities as set out above are not exhaustive and the post holder may be required to carry out additional duties within reasonableness of their level of skills and experience.

Academic Qualifications and Professional Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Development, Community Development, or related discipline.
  • Previous experience in monitoring and evaluation for at least two years, including managing projects.
  • Language Proficiency: Native Turkish with very good skills in reading, writing, and speaking. Proficient in Arabic and intermediate-level English.
  • The candidate should be a resident of the Hatay region, preferably residing in the Defne district.
  • Turkish nationality is required.
  • MS Office proficiency
  • Ability to transfer gained skills to other staff.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environment with respect for diversity.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Adhering to the organization’s vision, mission, goals, and objectives; commitment to humanitarian principles and actions.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with the humanitarian sector and coordination mechanisms.

  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Good organizational skills, including attention to detail and multitasking skills.
