‘Nabni’ نبني) meaning ‘we build’ in Arabic), is an initiative that seeks to further the Building for Peace (B4P) approach, and which aims to support locally led reconstruction processes in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region that also address the underlying drivers of conflict, that renew social relations, create new economic opportunities and strengthen social cohesion in local communities. Nabni introduces an innovative partnership model forging long-term strategic relationships in fragile contexts with Local Non-Governmental Organisations (LNGOs), centred around quality funding, capacity development and learning. The Facility is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through the KfW Development Bank.

What we are looking for:

The purpose of the Facility Manager (South) position is to lead on all facilitating and supporting all aspects of the Facility’s work in the South Area. They are responsible for leading engagement with all relevant external stakeholders – including authorities, are the focal point in the Facility for partners located in their area of operation, and responsible for coordinating the Facility’s support to these partners. They are responsible for representing and proactively engaging with national and local stakeholders in areas under their responsibility throughout the project cycle in support of coordination and delivery of the Facility’s objectives.

Generic responsibilities

1. Member of the Nabni Fund Management Unit (FMU) and Facility representative in South Area of Yemen.
2. Leads on outlining programmatic and strategic priorities for their area of responsibility. Inputs to the country-level Facility strategy jointly with the Facility Manager – Yemen, and supports the selection of partners and their activities in South Area of Yemen.

Specific responsibilities

• Maintain oversight of the context in South Area and relevance of the Facility’s overall priorities and partner operations to this.
• Manage the strategy design at the field level of the Facility approach and monitoring of the same.
• Responsible for monitoring and proactively flag issues, concerns or challenges – ongoing or anticipated, in the Facility and partner operations in geographical areas of oversight.
• Under the guidance and direction of the FMU, manage the relationship with Facility partner organisations in South Area.
• Lead on project co-design processes for partner organisations.
• Support access negotiations for local partners.

What you will bring

Generic professional competencies for this position:

• Minimum 5 years of experience managing projects and delivery in the humanitarian, development or peace sectors.
• Advanced University degree in social sciences, international development, conflict studies, public policy or another related field.
• Prior expertise working on programming with humanitarian, development or peace actors in Yemen or the Middle East region is mandatory.
• Proven experience working on partnerships with local organisations.
• Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
• Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and verbal.
• Specific knowledge of German development cooperation is an advantage but not essential.
• Demonstrated experience in representation and advocacy.
