OPPORTUNITY SNAPSHOT

We are looking for a City of Rochester Licensed Master Electrician to work 1st shift out of our Rochester facility with a primary focus on performing routine maintenance on facility electrical systems and electrical equipment at two facilities.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

The Facilities Master Electrician will work to assure that Facility Electrical Systems along with Machinery is safe and in proper working order to produce high-quality product to meet customer requirements. Responsibilities will include installation and repair of facility electrical systems, emergency breakdown repair, and preventative maintenance (PM) by following the recommended schedule to prevent unscheduled down time of equipment.

You Will

  • Layout electrical installations from drawings or verbal instruction, prepare a bill of materials and requisition items from suppliers. Install materials in a professional and workman like manor in a timely fashion.
  • Assist in the installation and rearrangement of production equipment according to plant layouts and drawings
  • Repair facility electrical equipment and systems to minimize down time along with maintaining a safe working environment..
  • Work as a team member to determine and implement necessary changes.
  • Utilize and maintain various hand and power tools.
  • Identify and correct safety hazards.
  • Drive forklifts and company vehicles as needed.
  • Be proficient with use of PC. Will do maintenance logs, work orders, spreadsheets, etc. as needed.
  • Install, relocate, and maintain computer system data lines
  • Work with voltages ranging from 0 to 480. (Involves both AC and DC circuits)
  • Working knowledge of PLC’s.
  • Continually monitor repair methods, processes, and procedures to assure meeting departmental and divisional goals to maintain or improve cost savings.
  • Create, maintain, audit, and revise Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Stay current with latest NEC Code along with NFPA 70e.
  • Carry out assignments with minimum supervision and guidance.
  • Work with contractors on various Electrical projects and PM’s.
  • Instruct and guide Maintenance personnel assigned to electrical projects.

Additionally, You Will

  • Perform routine administrative tasks and department back-up functions associated with assuring that the department and team goals are supported and attained.
  • Plan, prioritize and schedule work by effectively communicating with Production Teams and equipment operators to assure adequate time is allowed for repairs and preventative maintenance of building electrical systems along with production equipment.
  • Follow established safety procedures, such as the lockout/tagout program, to assure a clean, safe work environment is promoted and maintained.
  • Observe and test the operation of machinery and equipment in order to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters and other testing devices.
  • Maintain HVAC systems
  • Support and maintain building management systems, security systems, and security access systems.
  • Install electrical conduit systems in a professional and workman like manor.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

A strong knowledge of electrical systems as it relates to an industrial environment. The ability to read and understand schematics, and blueprints. Knowledge of the control and operation of three phase motors. A knowledge of Electrical Arc Flash and OSHA regulations and the proper use of PPE.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • 5-10 years of professional experience in the maintenance field
  • Ability to diagnose problems with Voltmeter or Analog meter
  • Understanding AC/DC circuits
  • Valid NYS driver’s license.
  • Working Knowledge of 120/208 volt and 277/480 volt three phase systems

Preferred

  • 2-year degree from a technical school
  • A current City of Rochester Licensed Master Electrician
  • Knowledge of Emaint Work order system
  • Working knowledge of Fire Alarm Systems
  • Familiar with plumbing, hydraulic, HVAC and pneumatic systems.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Shop conditions are in line with SPX FLOW EHS regulations and country legislative safety requirements with regards to safe walkways, shelving and general working areas. Cleanliness is of paramount importance to SPX FLOW however from time to time, dust and general manufacturing materials may accumulate. Noise can often be at levels that require hearing protection due to vehicle movements and general day to day activities in the nearby workshop.
