The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Yangon, Myanmar.

As Expert Programme Support and Partner Advisory you will provide direct support to the Welthungerhilfe Country Programme for the successful implementation and further development of the programme and projects in Myanmar and Cambodia. In this role, you will advise project implementation and facilitate the capacity development of local partner organisations in alignment with existing strategic goals and within Welthungerhilfe’s compliance framework.

Your responsibilities

  • Acting as focal person and managing partnerships with Welthungerhilfe Civil Society Partners in Myanmar and Cambodia
  • Conceptualizing and elaborating a partner approach for Welthungerhilfe in Myanmar/Cambodia in close cooperation with the Head of Programmes
  • Identifying potential future partners including civil society, private sector and academia to further develop and maintain a partner pool in Myanmar
  • Supporting the development of project proposals and ensuring timely submission of reports and other relevant project documents for review and finalisation in accordance with established deadlines
  • Strengthening Welthungerhilfe’s compliance framework with a focus on the application of standards and tools for quality management in project management and partner cooperation such as partner assessment tools, design and implementation of capacity development plans etc.
  • Supporting partners to be compliant with donor and internal regulations across various domains, including finance, procurement, HR, and operations
  • Designing and creating online and offline communication products for the programme in coordination with the Head of Programmes
  • Supporting the programme team to organize and facilitate various events and workshops e.g. Review and Learning Processes, Planning workshops etc.
  • Facilitating knowledge transfer and learning both within the programme and in Welthungerhilfe partner organisations
  • Promoting, improving and reinforcing accountability standards and practices in accordance with Welthungerhilfe’s Code of Conduct and Core Humanitarian Standards
  • Representing Welthungerhilfe vis-a-vis civil society and participating in relevant events, forums and platforms

Your profile

  • A university or college degree in Social Science, Development Studies or relevant sectors such as Food and Nutrition Security, Agriculture, Water & Sanitation, Environmental Science
  • At least three years of professional experience in the development or humanitarian sector (preferable with an INGO) in support or advisory positions
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a structured, goal oriented and, at times, independent manner
  • Cultural sensitivity and understanding as well as stress resilience
  • Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for working in Welthungerhilfe’s programme countries
  • Excellent written and spoken English; Proficiency in German is an advantage
