RNI, a project of OKAPI Consulting, is launching a call for tenders to rework the radio’s website in order to make it more professional, dynamic and aesthetic.

The work expected concerns

I. Design of the website

Improvement of the general design:

1. The icons to the social networks are too small, especially for a mobile screen where they do not allow to click correctly

2. Adaptation to avoid the loss of information on the mobile version: the header of the site + the banner of the desktop version are no longer displayed, whereas this could have been adapted (here, we just see the RNI logo, but we no longer have the full name of the radio).

3. Live radio: the live broadcast is conditional on the page you are on, via a widget, and this is not easy to find in the mobile version, as you have to scroll down the page – the solution is to offer the live broadcast throughout the navigation via an adapted indication at the top of the page and always visible. Redesign the head of the site, in both desk top and mobile versions

4. Optimise the spaces, for example the footer is empty and “tags” does not give a list of tags, but a long list of articles, this space can be optimised and made more user-friendly with a menu listing articles (the most recent, the most read…), static pages with all the information (contact, about us)

5. The English access is only visible from the home page, it disappears when you are in an article page

6. In the mobile version, the banner with the information arranged horizontally is aesthetic, but not very readable, it could be optimised

7. The search function, which is not very user-friendly, should be expanded.

8. The presentation page of a section (categories) should be improved.

II. content

1. The theme of the site is not translated, so there is a lot of static text in English in a French interface

2. The articles are not signed by their real author, an author list must be created

3. The “podcast” page does not give the feeling of being on a page dedicated to podcasts, there is no player to listen to the latest podcast in the section, make a complete overhaul (layout) and optimised (improved presentation of the information)

4- In desktop, optimize the right column with shorter info blocks allowing a better view of the contents on the site, here we just have a list of categories including one “Uncategorized” which should be removed

5- Next pagination should not be on the home page which is a showcase. Next pagination, on other pages, implies a reloading of the page at each click. Improvement: a dynamic “infinite scroll” like on the Twitter network

6- In terms of taxonomy, make a policy of keywords and rankings (function: referencing, sharing with social networks, improving the site’s search function, proposing articles on the same subject, etc.). Solution: define a list of keywords (taxonomy or thesaurus, to be used at the time of editing).

7- Review the quality and size of the images: the images used so far are too heavy with a very low resolution.

8- Create spaces for advertisements (in the right-hand column and at the bottom of the page – possibly in the footer)

II. Support and training

In addition to the complete redesign of the site, the selected expert will

-Train the RNI webmaster

-During 12 months, accompany the RNI webmaster and be available to react 7 days a week on all questions concerning the running of the site
