Expert Fundraising Child Growth Monitor * Bonn / Berlin / Remote

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of two years. There are good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Bonn and/or Berlin, Germany, but also remote work is an option as the Innovation team is anyway working in a decentralized and international way.

Welthungerhilfe’s Child Growth Monitor (CGM) is a digital application using artificial intelligence and augmented reality to turn mobile devices into tools for measuring the bodies of children. The mobile-based application can measure the height, weight and upper arm circumference of children using 3D scanning and thus offers an important prerequisite for the early detection and treatment of malnutrition. As Expert Fundraising, you will establish relationships with potential donors and acquire funding for the Child Growth Monitor.

Your Responsibilities

  • Support the fundraising planning process of the CGM project to develop effective strategies and achieve defined goals (the CGM project will be spun off as a social business in 2022 and the project’s medium-term goal is to become financially self-sustaining – until this time (break even), the project requires external funding)
  • Develop strategies to achieve agreed long-term organizational goals
  • Identify new potential revenue streams and develop strategies to tap into them with a focus on institutional donors, corporate donations & cooperations and private large donors
  • Definition and fulfillment of fundraising goals
  • Oversee the management of grant programmes and ensure the preparation of effective, high-quality proposals and reports
  • Recruit and develop new financing flows
  • Develop and manage existing relationships with donors and potential donors
  • Close cooperation and exchange of expertise, in particular with the Institutional Donor Relations and Philanthropy & Partnerhips Units as well as with the Welthungerhilfe Foundation in order to ensure compliance and auditing standards

Your profile

  • A university/polytechnic degree or a completed training corresponding to the position
  • Proven experience in raising funds for NGO projects and/or technology projects
  • Broad experience in strategic fundraising and in building, maintaining and developing relationships with stakeholders, customers and donors
  • International donor experience (especially German & Indian) would be an asset
  • Knowledge of the appropriate fundraising environment and a range of techniques and disciplines that support cost-effective revenue generation
  • Willingness to work in a team and cope in an intercultural working environment
  • Excellent spoken and written English language skills
