The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with a contract duration unti April 30, 2023. Employment location will be Bonn, Germany.

Welthungerhilfe has been running a Forecast-based Action (FbA) program entitled “Development and implementation of protocols for the implementation of prevention measures (EAP) for forecast-based drought relief financing in Madagascar, Zimbabwe and Kenya” since March 2020 and aims to further expand its activities in this thematic area in the coming years. As Expert Finances & Processes for this program, you will be responsible for all finance and process-related activities in close cooperation with the finance staff in the project countries.

Your responsibilities

  • Financial administration and coordination of the FbA program budget and related tasks in compliance with the donor guidelines of the German Federal Foreign Office and Welthungerhilfe internal regulations

  • Communicate with and support country offices, partners and contractors in relation to program administration and accounting

  • Initiate and execute processes related to the establishment, signing and compliance of service and partner contracts, including review of partner financial reporting

  • Expenditure and cash flow planning, including review of invoices and requests for payment

  • Budget oversight of country programs and partners, preparing requests for budget adjustments for the German Federal Foreign Office and transferring budget adjustments to Welthungerhilfe’s internal financial and program management systems

  • Preparation of interim and final financial reports for the German Federal Foreign Office

  • Contact person for all financial and process related questions of the financial staff of the country offices as well as for the contractual partners of the FbA program

Your profile

  • A university or polytechnic degree in a relevant field including financial administrative skills
  • At least 1 to 3 years of professional experience in financial administration of grants and programs as well as in the use of accounting, financial planning and project management software in the context of humanitarian aid and/or development cooperation
  • Experience in the implementation of programs funded by the German Federal Foreign Office or other institutional donors is desirable
  • Strong intercultural competences as well as good communication and organizational skills and joy working in a multinational team
  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills; knowledge of German and French would be an advantage
