USO Nevada Executive Director serves as the senior USO leader for the state. USO Executive Directors are responsible for fundraising, day-to-day USO operations, program delivery, board management and recruitment, and staff and volunteer management across their respective geographical service area (GSA), and is one of seven Executive Directors in the West Region. This position reports to the President of USO West Region and is part of the worldwide USO family spanning 290+ locations in 17 countries on five continents.
The successful candidate will be able to functionally operate as a leader, entrepreneur and fundraiser with a track record of taking the initiative and creating and stewarding both new and existing relationships while providing top notch communications and leadership to a staff of three and a volunteer team of 150+ serving at multiple locations. USO Nevada currently operates fixed locations at Harry Reid International Airport, Nellis AFB and Creech AFB, and provides support and programing to other military installations and military communities across the GSA. This position requires engagement at evening and weekend events.
The successful candidate should feel just as comfortable helping staff and volunteers engage service members at a USO program event on base as they would engaging major donors at a black tie reception.

The USO Nevada Executive Director is responsible for the fundraising, day-to-day operations, volunteer management, program delivery, board leadership and USO engagement for the state of Nevada.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Duties)
- In coordination with West Region staff, USO development team and local board, lead and execute professional donor cultivation, management, and stewardship of corporations, foundations and individuals throughout the assigned geographic service area. Identify and cultivate a high-volume portfolio of prospective donors to secure funding for the organization vis collaboration with USO development team.
- Provide active leadership in program design and direction as well as procurement and growth of financial and other in-kind resources necessary for center operations and programs/activities.
- Develop/enhance/maintain working relationships with US Military, local business community leadership, elected leaders and other stakeholders. Conduct periodic reviews of service member and family needs and recommend/implement program/service changes as appropriate.
- Manage day-to-day USO operational procedures, ensuring cost-effective, safe, welcoming, clean and well-maintained facilities and environments. Actively manage full-cycle human capital activities including recruitment, supervision, training & development and recognition for staff and volunteer workforce. Ensure delivery of excellent customer service.
- Oversee planning, delivery and quality of programs, services, equipment and events within budgeted limits. Identify and implement improvements that ensure USO Standards of Excellence.
- As directed by regional leadership, perform and monitor financial activities, including but not limited to creation and execution of operating budget, sales and/or other income, banking transactions. Prepare, review and present reports, including but not limited to financial, operational and statistical reports. Create and/or maintain records required for local procedures and activities.
- Drive and operate motor vehicles (12 passenger or smaller).

Job Specifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Hospitality, or related field.
- 10+ years progressively responsible work experience in a program management and fundraising role, including 5+ years in a supervisory capacity. Relevant experience in a non-profit, military, multicultural and/or global organization a plus. Local candidates already familiar with the Nevada philanthropic community will be given preference.
- General knowledge of cultivation and solicitation strategies as well as IRS guidelines for charitable contributions and Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance Standards for Charity Accountability.
- Demonstrated experience in recruiting, managing and recognizing a large volunteer workforce.
- Ability to deliver compelling call-to-action cases to internal and external stakeholders at a variety of levels.
- Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams. Ability to achieve desired results while working collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Ability to interact with USO Leadership, the general public and military audiences at a variety of levels with integrity and professionalism.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment related to controversial and/or culturally sensitive subjects. Ability to handle confidential information with tact and poise.
- Working knowledge of basic business and accounting functions including project management and budgeting.
- Demonstrated initiative/self-motivation, with the ability to quickly and easily adapt to changing organizational needs.
- Proficiency and comfort using computers and electronics equipment. Working knowledge of various software, applications, and programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite and Raiser’s Edge.
- Ability to obtain and maintain proper credentials necessary to access USO Center locations and facilities including but not limited to security, credit and/or background screening, SOFA status, valid driver’s license.
- Must be a strong advocate of the USO’s mission to lift the spirits of America’s troops and their families.
