Overview of position:

  • HART is looking for suitable candidates with relevant experience in evaluation for one of their project.

Role objectives:

  • The Evaluation Expert will provide advice to the Team Leader on the evaluation approach to be adopted & will work independently to the extent possible on those parts of the evaluation agreed with the Team Leader.
  • S / he will provide requested inputs to the Team Leader in a timely manner & will contribute ideas & insights in order to produce a successful evaluation.
  • The evaluation expert will also be responsible for assisting the Team Leader o set up interview & meeting schedules & will be responsible for arranging these when necessary.

Project reporting:

  • This role reports to the Project Manager.

Key competencies:

  • Masters Degree in a relevant discipline such as Political or Social Sciences, or Development Studies, or equivalent professional experience (15 years).
  • The expert should have experience of at least 5 evaluation assignments or be well versed in M&E methodologies.
  • A knowledge of the civil society context in Syria would be an advantage.
  • At least 3 years as an expert on projects dealing with civil society development, either on the supply side (i.e. as an expert providing capacity building or other services for organisations), or in the field of evaluation of civil society support programs, or as senior staff in a civil society organisation.
  • Arabic language would be an advantage.

Team management:

  • This role has no team management responsibility.
