Comic Relief

Comic Relief is seeking a consultant/team to conduct the final evaluation of the Improving Mental Health and Wellbeing in Kenyaprogramme that is co-funded with the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). The aims of the programme are to a) increase access to quality mental health services, b) reduce stigma and discrimination related to mental ill-health, and to c) strengthen the capacity of organisations and networks working in this sector in Kenya. The consultant(s) are asked to evaluate the effectiveness of the programme in achieving these aims and corresponding outcomes, as well as Comic Relief’s own grant making and grant management. We particularly welcome applications from consultants with previous working experience in Kenya. The evaluation’s objectives are to:

  • Assess the programme’s outcomes and its impact on mental health at the policy, institutional and field level.
  • Build evidence around ‘what works’ and ‘how’; that is, what are the conditions that can foster effective and active engagement of communities, health care providers, and government bodies.
  • Formulate recommendations to inform future programmingin mental health in Kenya, and in Comic Relief’s grantmaking and grant management practices.
