The Opportunity

Save the Children International has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as the EU Compliance Manager (maternity cover, fixed-term contract) in Brussels or any existing Save the Children International Regional or Country office worldwide.

Role Purpose:

Within the EU International Advocacy and Partnerships team in Brussels, responsible for compliance and risk-related issues with DG INTPA/NEAR and ECHO across the EU Account composed of nine Save the Children Members. This role will focus on gaining a clear understanding across the EU Account of the issues and risks in relation to compliance and provide advice and support to the EU Account Members on how to address the issues, mitigate the risks and ensure compliance with EU requirements. This role includes strong cooperation with Save the Children’s INTPA/NEAR and ECHO Partnership Managers, Knowledge and Learning Manager as well as compliance functions within Save the Children International (SCI) and Save the Children European Members. This position will ensure a coherent understanding and uniform implementation by the EU Account Members of EU compliance requirements, in line with EU compliance trends and requirements and best practices from other NGOs.

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Extensive experience with and detailed knowledge of donor compliance with DG INTPA, NEAR, ECHO and/or EU Delegations. Previous experience in a similar position for another leading organisation would be considered a strong advantage.
  • A strong operational understanding for how development and humanitarian programmes work and ability to make the link between compliance and programme management/operations
  • Insightful and analytic, with the ability to communicate complex and technical thinking clearly to both internal and external audiences.
  • Experience of influencing and delivering results cross organisationally within a large complex organisation.
  • Excellent relationship building skills with the ability to network with, and influence, senior people both internally and externally to achieve a pre-defined outcome.
  • Entrepreneurial, with the ability to identify opportunities and execute them, using novel approaches or techniques as appropriate.
  • Commitment to Save the Children’s mission, values and approach (includes child focus and equal opportunities).
  • Self-driven, with the ability to take a pro-active approach, work on own initiative, solve problems and think creatively in fluid or less structured environments.
  • A proven team player – someone who is open, ambitious, and who is able and willing to deliver beyond his or her personal brief.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English are a must. A good working level of French (and Spanish) will be considered an advantage.

We can offer circa £50,000 per annum (If based in UK) with an option of flexible working hours. If the role is based outside of the UK, National T&C (including pay) will apply.

This role can be based in Brussels or any existing Save the Children International Regional or Country office location on approval, provided the successful candidate has proof of eligibility to work from the preferred location.
