Oxfam International Secretariat is looking for a EU Climate Justice Policy Advisor. This post will be part of the Oxfam International EU Advocacy Office which is based in Brussels, Belgium. The Oxfam EU team focuses on the EU institutions, primarily the European Commission, Council and Parliament, advocating for sustainable, inclusive, and accountable programming and policies. The team also acts as a service hub for the Oxfam Confederation, supporting country offices and partners to engage with the EU in Brussels and in countries (through EU Delegations), as well as coordinating efforts amongst European affiliates regarding European policies.

This post will contribute to the policy and advocacy development and implementation of Oxfam’s work on climate justice. The position will lead on influencing EU targets and coordinate the work amongst European affiliates, as well as support country offices and regional platforms, focusing on two strands of work: the quality of climate finance and a just transition, both with regard to the impact on countries, communities, marginalized groups and women in the Global South.

Who we’re looking for

Our next EU Climate Justice Policy Advisor will:

• Develop and implement Oxfam’s policy and advocacy strategy on climate justice with the European Institutions, building on Oxfam’s global climate strategy and advocacy priorities
• Monitor, analyse and influence EU climate policies, finance and projects in developing countries, including on the European Green Deal and the EU’s development budget
• Monitor, analyse and influence EU legislative trajects linked to the European Green Deal and Fit for 55 package, particularly those linked to climate finance and just transition (e.g. Renewable Energy Directive, Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, Emissions Trading System)
• Engage in regular outreach and advocacy with EU and other key decision makers in coordination with Oxfam’s Climate Initiative colleagues
