Job Summary
The ACAA’s Environmental & Sustainability Internship will expose the student to the Planning Department. The incumbent will receive hands-on experience by conducting inspections, maintaining the environmental management system, and identifying ways to reduce energy and water consumption.

Here is how the Environmental & Sustainability Intern will help:

  • Maintain and update Environmental Management System.
  • Conduct Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) Inspections, preparing/revising employee training materials, and providing employee training.
  • Conduct Aboveground Storage Tank (AST) Inspections, preparing/revising employee training materials, and providing employee training.
  • Conduct Integrated Contingency Plan (ICP) inspections, preparing/revising employee training materials, and providing employee training.
  • Participate in Erosion & Sedimentation (E&S) Control Inspections of construction projects
  • Participate in the Sustainability Committee Meetings and identify potential “green” projects.
  • Participate in meeting/discussion on ways the airport can reduce its energy and water consumption.
  • Participate in and assist with evaluating ways to improve the current recycling programs and increasing our diversion rates.
  • Update the Environmental and Infrastructure Mapping.
  • Develop a system for compiling all existing wetland and stream information.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned or required.

Qualifications
Requirements to apply for role of Environmental & Sustainability Intern are:

  • Must currently be enrolled in school as a second year (or above) undergraduate from an accredited four-year college or university in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources Management, Sustainability, or a related field.
  • Must maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 or greater.
