Job Description

The Enterprise Operations Observability Specialist role for Global IM is to provide specialist technical and support leadership within the AIOps delivery teams as well as oversee stable, reliable and performant end-to-end monitoring tools and processes to ensure maximal service availability and raise end-user satisfaction.

Key responsibilities:

  • Directly orchestrate the development of an observability platform to fully monitor all infrastructure and applications services, across both IT and OT functions, delivering a unified best in class global platform.
  • Design, implement, maintain, and deploy observability-related systems covering application & infrastructure telemetry and logs, metric visualizations and alerting management.
  • Define best practices around making our systems and services observable and work with teams to get those best practices applied.
  • Oversee the availability, performance, and supportability of our observability infrastructure.
  • Lead Infrastructure projects that improve observability tools and platforms: metrics, dashboarding, alerting, logging, application performance management and distributed tracing.
  • Monitor and track customer satisfaction levels and service stability to maximise effectiveness.
  • Forecast financial, physical, and human resource needs to meet established objectives.
  • Oversee and coordinate restoration and disaster recovery plans that remediate service outages.
  • Manage all licensing exposure within the service scope and ensure compliance.
  • Provide specialist support for frontline service specialists with respect to services scope.
  • Support cross functional team interactions with internal and external stakeholders to execute relevant activities within stipulated timeframes.
  • Manage all risks relating to service scope and mitigate following standard strategies.
  • Act as the escalation point for any service scope incidents.
  • Manage costs related to the service scope transparently and effectively, including investment choices and budgeting to ensure service remains operational and within maintenance support.

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate qualification (Bachelor degree or equivalent) in the relevant IM discipline. It would be advantageous to have a post graduate qualification in the relevant IM discipline OR a proven track record of extensive practical operational experience in a role and context of similar type and complexity.

Technical knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of operations monitoring and principles.
  • Excellent change and relationship management capability.
  • Monitoring services, toolsets, compliance and standards.
  • Outsourced team management to ensure effective resource utilisation.
