English Subject Matter ExpertJob DetailsDepartmentEducational and ContentReporting ManagerSubject – Team LeadJob LocationHQ, Abu Dhabi, United Arab EmiratesJob PurposeThe English Subject Matter Expert (SME) is a relied upon subject expert for a specific content area(s) and supports the Subject Team to enable creative, engaging, culturally relevant subject-specific curriculum for our Alef customers in a time and budget efficient manner.Key ResponsibilitiesJob Specific ResponsibilitiesMLO & Assessment – Responsible for the creation and delivery of core contentLead the design, development and revision of subject-specific mini learning objectives (MLO) based lessons, ensuring content is aligned with the local context and culture to meet the needs of learnersResponsible for ensuring proper documentation, including written, visual, and audio pieces are created, saved, and tagged with appropriate meta-data according to standard operating proceduresRapidly responds to ticket requests to edit, update, or fix problems with contentCreative Content – Responsible for the creation and delivery of new content initiatives as assigned (remediation, micro-lessons, test preparation, etc)Supports the development and documentation of quality standards for new projects including scope, schedules, budgets, and quality definitionsClarifies and follows core scope and quality process standards to ensure reliable communication and flow of new project design, development, testing, and deliveryResponsible for creating and guiding proper documentation, including written, visual and audio pieces are created, saved, and tagged with appropriate meta-data with reusability in mindRapidly responds to ticket requests to edit, update, or fix problems with new content initiatives as neededGenerates and shares ideas for new content concepts rooted to the company s general education frameworks and modelsContent Quality – Responsible to ensure standardized education material is delivered within defined quality specificationsCollaborates with teams to update and improve quality standards for contentDesign and develop processes, activities, and documents to support understanding and problem solving for learning objectivesEnsures new quality standards are documented and implemented during the authoring of content.Reviews and edits all education content in a variety of formats including written, audio, visual, and experiential, ensuring consistent quality standards are achievedCreates and writes content design briefs and other documentation as needed, ensuring consistent quality and pedagogical flow of subject contentResponsible to ensure the quality of instructional design for all assigned content as defined in quality specificationsVendor ManagementCollaborates with vendors to ensure quality standards of all content are consistently achieved in a uniform mannerLeads coaching, communication, and overall support for vendors on assigned project work to ensure standardized quality and on-time delivery of contentTrains vendors on the process and quality standards as requestedCollaborates with internal (employees) and external teams (vendors) to achieve timely and high-quality content deliveryEscalates problems, errors, and other process and quality challenges to Team Lead as requiredEducation, Experience and Required SkillsEducational QualificationBachelor s degree required, Master s degree preferred in a specific subjectCourse work in Instructional Design, Education Technology, TESOL, etc will be an added advantageExperienceMinimum 3 years of teaching experience in a specific subject in K-12Minimum 1-year leading teachers in the development of content/curriculum strongly preferredExperience producing digital contentKnowledge of processes and standards for planning and implementing instructional design and developmentUnderstanding of current emerging practices related to STEMPrevious experience with online and blended learning using Learning Management Systems preferredEssential SkillsProblem-solving; ability to drive toward project completion, overcoming obstacles, bottlenecks and other risks as requiredRelationship Builder; ability to quickly establish credibility, influence and trust with other team members in order to better drive resultsCreative Design; visualization; ability to see the big picture of the curriculum design process and influence continuous creative details without losing focus on schedule and process efficienciesDeadline oriented; ability to articulate priorities and revise plans to meet tight deadlinesProject Management; familiar with various project management practices and tools with ability to implement and customize to the needs of team and/or projectExpert in Writing and Speaking English
